Creamy tube tone and silky spring reverb. |
This all-tube beast is your first choice for many different sound styles! With a host of practical features and a clearly arranged control panel, handling this amp is a piece of cake. The Screamer's opulent visuals are certainly arresting, but its unique, creamy tube tone and silky spring reverb truly set this amplifier apart. The Screamer comes complete with a bit of technical wizardry which you'll find useful where it counts most: out there in the real world of rehearsing and gigging. Among these features are a Lo/Hi Gain switch, which in effect doubles your choice of channels from 2-Clean and Lead-to 4- wit the addition of Crunch and Heavy Lead settings. You also get 2 different connection systems for footswitches: conventional 1/4" jacks as well as a port for the ENGL compact footswitch Z-5 (sold separately).
If you want to play smashing rock with tamed gain, this should be the amp of your choice. Killing tube tone and incredible handling ease are the trademarks of this amp line. Sparkling clean, harmonic crunch and powerful leads are the goodies you'll get from the Screamer.

Perfect Amp with 4 usuable channels!

I have been looking a looooong time for perfect tone in a combo amp - one that does an amazing clean and a usuable warm and thick distortion. Two channels of perfection is what is was looking for, but I got 4 instead. This is the most amzing amp I've ever played. From Fender clean to TEXAS crunch to a VanHalen distortion to all out METAL.
Done perfectly. I"ve tried everything from Bogner to Marshall and Randall in search of what's here. Plus the amp is so gorgeous to look at. This is the first time in her life, that my girlfriend actually liked listening to my practice!
I'm still astonished at how much great the CLEAN is on an amp known for it's metal. Dare I say it, better than Fender. There I said it. All boutique sounds and of course the best distortion on the planet.

Engl Screamer exceeds expectations

The Engl Screamer50 Combo's build quality and most importantly, sound, is first rate. You get a true sense of "german quality" the minute you unpack it from shipping. The chasis is built like a tank, and the all tube 6L6 sound is clear and pure. You get the cleans of a Fender and the overdrive of a Marshall all in one. Don't let the 50w fool you, this baby is loud, and will handle almost any live application. By the way, its a gorgeous amp also. Amp has two channels. Each channel has a low gain and high gain switch, effectively making it like a 4 channel amp. You will need to purchase a footswitch. I bought the Engl custom Z-5 footswitch and ease of use on stage is fantastic. The only negative I have to say about this amp is that there is only one EQ for both channels, however the settings I use sound great on both clean and lead channels. No matter what style of music you play, this Engl will not disappoint. The clean high gain switch gives you that great classic rock sound, while the lead channel low gain is a modern distortion and high gain gives you the crunch that any hard rock/metal band would envy.

Amazing sound from this thing at all volumes. I can play at 4:00 in the morning in my apartment and nobody can hear me, and still have the amplifier sound incredible, or i can turn it up and its plenty loud for a basement or a bar. Features on the amplifier are pretty much standard; reverb, f/x loop, etc. This amplifier is built very well, and the handle isn't going to ever come lose from the looks of it. Also, i have to mention this thing is VERY heavy Lets talk about sound. This is just amazing, i have owned a Marshall major and a Mesa recto and this thing just blows them away. The EQ is very responsive, and although its only one channel i don't find it a hindrance. With a click of the gain switch, you can go from Jazzy cleans, to Ritchie Blackmore rock and roll, to Metallica distortion. Incredible, and well worth the price.

This is one nice Engl

This amp is quite amazing. First off, it is very striking in appearance, the pictures do not do it justice. The clean channel is spectacular, very warm and full, yet glassy. The high gain channels at first I felt were quite disappointing compared at how great the clean channel was. I did not want to use a distortion pedal with it. I then put an MXR 10 band EQ in the effects loop and was blown away at the difference it made. It is like night and day. Now granted this is no fireball, but I think that it has enough gain to play most metal. This amp also does not like effects in the front. You definately need to use the FX loop. This amp is very high quality. I did not notice any loose parts or blemishes, and it feels very solid(heavy). As for volume this amp is quite loud and does not do what other tube amps I have had before, like its either quiet or extremely loud, it gets louder gradually as you turn it up like it should. Overall, I believe this is a great amp for the price.
