This is the amp to have for ANY kind of metal, hard rock, chicken pickin licks, or the "black and blues". The gain stages can go from classic overdriven plexi to modern ultra gain. And even with the gain pinned all the way up the amp still reproduces every note with extreme clarity. A must have for any tone freak that likes a real raw sound.

The Engl Fireball is a great investment, its price is actually hard to beat, to find a boutique amp for 1500 or less with this amount of character is rare, The Tone is very Punchy, Articulate great for Hardcore, Metal, Deathcore types of music. Instantly the tone is above 6505 and Dual Rec, note for note this amp stands out, instead of having that muddy dual rec, or grainy 6505 sound Think August Burns Red and thats the tone you get very Articulate distinguished and extremely versatile.

Best amp I have owned in 20 years of playing all I know is this amp WHOMPS A**....and feels good. What a killer amp for a decent price. If you want Deathmetal, Metalcore, Grindcore, any hard kickin Metal Metal Metal, this is the one. I haven't touched my other amps in months. SS in NC USA

I once owned the peavey 6505+ but hated the alarm-clock quality to its tone. I sold it and bought the Fireball and couldn't believe it. All of my Peavey and Mesa owning friends want an ENGL now. I have also tried the Powerball but I wasn't as impressed . The lower wattage of this amp gives it a more liquid and less jagged tone. This amp is plenty loud! Despite having one set of controls for both channels, any control setting will transfer well between channels. I use the eq on the gmajor if I ever want to REALLY change the eq for certain effects. The 1/4 footswitch input makes it really easy to change channels and works wonders with the gmajor. Bottom line, the Fireball is my new God.
