This effect is great for gigs. It can add great 'depth' to someone's sound. However, consider the alternatives for the price tag.

Got this pedal a few months back and I love this thing. I use it for the sub octave mostly so i probably could of gotten the Mini-POG. Unlike my old Boss Oc-2, this pedal never fails when it comes to tracking notes and chords. The variety of sounds is just incredible. Perfect for someone who likes making unusual sounds. The amount of over tones and dissonance that can be coaxed from this box is really something. It really is like playing a 24 string guitar with all the sliders up. Turn the out put all the way down when you first plug it in, it has a a pretty high out put. The only negatives is that it adds a lot of noise into your signal (definitely NOT true bypass) and it takes up a lot of room on the ole' pedal board.

Absolutely ONE OF A KIND!

This pedal is by far the most unique guitar effect that I have ever used, owned, or played with.

Ever since I first played this pedal in conjunction with an EHX Pulsar, I had wanted to add this pedal to my line up... but the hefty price tag delayed that process (hence my 4 stars for value... it's limited in range, but very pricey).

I've had this pedal for one month now, and have played numerous gigs with it, and this tone turns heads! Everyone always asks where my band's keyboard/synth player is... and every time, they think I'm kidding when I tell them that our Hammond B-3 organ sound is coming from MY GUITAR!

Also, It's great having a foot switchable 12-string sound as well... much more effective than a double neck, and a LOT lighter! Lemme tell ya... a Gibson '59 Les Paul as a 12 string is a HECK of a sound!

Rocking out with this pedal through an overdriven amp is even cooler. You too can sound like Joe Satriani's SUPER COLOSSAL. With a sub octave and both +1 and +2 octave tones that track perfectly, you get a FAT overdriven roar that will leave people cowering in fear.

Electro Harmonix has done it again, and is continuing its tradition of excellence.

My Science Project

My band was having issues holding onto bass players for a while, and I was so sick and tired of training the "new guy". So I picked up one of these puppies along with an a/b/y splitter. From my guitar, I go into the A/B/Y splitter. From the a/b/y splitter, one of the signals goes straight to my guitar amp, the other signal goes through the POG, into a 115 bass amp. I have the POG set up mostly as a sub octave, but I add a little bit of the higher octaves to fill out the sound a bit. Loud humbuckers really overload the POG in this situation, so when I find myself bass-player-less, I usually switch to a guitar with P90's or single coils. For the most part, my "science project" works pretty well when we break out the punk or groove tunes, and even aggressive power chords can sound OK if you strum a little softer. It makes soloing impossible (unless I go crazy and add my Line 6 delay sampler to loop the bass), but it allows me to lock in on a groove with a drummer, and gives us a chance to mess around with or normal "top 40 repertoire" (plus each band member ends up with a little extra cash at the end of the night since we don’t need to pay the bass player). Really neat little toy! Maybe on the expensive side, but has so many possibilities!!

Holy Octaves Batman

I love this effect. The unit is a bit pricey but the fun you can have with it while tweaking the individual octave levels is amazing. It can distort a bit at times but you can help that by adusting the lp filter. The organ sound it can produce is also one of a kind. Also this unit works very well with bass as other octave pedals seem to have trouble with. If you don't mind shelling out the bucks this is a must have.
