Bad choice

I purchased this pedal looking for a high gain distortion pedal to add to my visual Sound overdrive. This pedal was way to "tinny" and high pitched for my tastes. Especially for the music I was playing. Even with the tone and distortion turned down to about 8 o'clock the pedal wasn't pleasing me...at all. It sounds good with power chords and gives a huge roaring chord, but a lot of little notes get lost in the midst of it because of the such high gain. I like how the pedal Son of Hyde made by Visual Sound better.

I just got this pedal and immediately liked it and so did my band. I also have the big muff and this one is definitely better for solos if you are into that. Much more clarity and tighter sound than the Big muff. I found with the big muff notes would get lost during solos and would be harder to stand out in the mix. Of course the big muff is a different beast and has its own strengths. Anyway I replaced the big muff with the micro metal muff on my pedal board and am much happier and this pedal is much smaller which saves a lot of room. The tone control is awesome and would prefer to have that control over the nano metal muff which does not have that. Also I do not need the big metal muff and all those settings. This is a happy medium which works well. Anyway awesome pedal especially for the price.

The mini metal muff is a fantastic little piece of equipment that is a great bang for your buck. It does lack some of what the actual Metal Muff has, but since this sucker has the top boost switch to alternate your sound in a delicate way, it does just fine for it's price. But if you want to spend just a few bucks more then you might as well go for the Metal Muff, but this baby does just fine if you're looking to spend less money

I was in a guitar shop one day and I said to the employee, "I want a pedal that will make me sound like James Hetfield." Without hesitation, he grabbed the Micro Metal Muff. My first thought was, "How can something so small give me the Drivng Heavy Metal sound I want?" Just to be nice, I tried it anyway...THAT WAS A CLOSE ONE! I dialed in hordes of heavy, crunchy tones, even though I was playing on a crappy les paul copy and a mediocre amp. Plenty of crunchy, chunky, heavy distortion. Not to mention the top boost! Set it to low for a little extra push or throw it into high for a giant breath of treble into your sound....or just leave it off. Plenty of power and tonal opportunities... If your looking for a Metallica, Megadeth, AC/DC, or anything else with a little to a lot of Crunchy Rhythms and Scorching Leads, THIS IS YOUR PEDAL!

Micro Metal Muff... FROM HELL!!!!!

I purchased this pedal a week ago at a local music store here in Mesa, Arizona. I run a Peavey 5150 head through a Randall CXM 4x12 cab loaded with Celestion speakers and it is already a force to be reckoned with. I have been looking for a good pedal to just give my 5150 a bit more gain because I prefer to play heavy on the amps rhythm channel because it is much more articulate and hits harder than the lead channel which has kind of a grainy sound to it! I just wanted slighty more gain so I can get a really nice thick low end growl outta it along with making my harmonic pinches easier to achieve and giving my solos more slice to them. I also have a BBE sonice stomp pedal which works wonders for tightening up and improving the amps physical impact, but I still needed more balls to my sound! So I was at the music store and I saw the Nano Metal Muff, the Micro Metal Muff and the big daddy, full on Metal Muff. I decided to try the Micro Metal Muff because I didn't want any extra bass, mid, or treble EQ's to mess with because that at times can tend to overload the amp and make the speakers put out that horrible womping sound from too much bass, and the Nano seemed like it didn't have enough controls so I tested out the Micro and within the first 2 minutes I knew it was the pedal for me. I had tried other overdrives and distortion pedals to achieve what I want to do and all either lack tone, power, sound too harsh or color my clean tone when off! This pedal has a very warm, tube-like sound with a ton of gain! But it is not so out of hand that it is unusable! It's a simple little pedal but it really brings all the crushing lead and rhythm tones I've been looking for. I can't say enough about it! There aren't any annoying popping sounds when you switch it off and it doesn't color the clean tone one bit! It has insane sustain too! It is perfect for adding more gain to an already fully overdriven amp like Zakk Wylde does, or as a flat out solo boost or even using as a full-on distortion pedal over a clean amp! Go, buy it, play with it, fire your old distortion pedals and call the Micro Metal Muff your new best friend!
