• DISTORTION CONTROL — adjusts the amount of input gain.
• The optional 9V power supply from Electro-Harmonix is US96DC-200BI 9.6 volts/DC 200ma. The barrel connector on the front of the METAL MUFF is for the 9-volt battery eliminator capable of delivering 100 mA of current. The inner ring of the 9-volt battery eliminator must be negative, the outer ring positive.

Old school metal

I bought this pedal to run in front of my line 6 Flextone combo.I'm using an old Peavey Generation S-1 with a Seymour Duncan Sh-12, and a volume knob, and a Fender tele HH FMT with a Sh-4 in the bridge. This pedal is great for achieving the old 80's metal sound, and with a little effort one can get some decent hard rock tones out of it. The top boostis the unique feature of this amp, and can be the trickiest part of it. One can use it to boost your leads with the knob in the 7-10 o'clock range, but beyond that it's a banshee. If you buy this and don't immediately like it, don't give up. I had to do some serious tweeking to get the sounds i was looking for, but now I love it!!

this pedal is a little overhyped. i couldnt get it to sound usable. you may need a tube amp but i say buy a metalcore.

This pedal works great! The minute i plugged it in I was blown away! Has a great chugging cranking distortion and is tweakable to almost any metal style. Truly a MUST-HAVE for any metal guitarist with a less than stellar amp.

I was in the market for the heaviest, but still affordable, effects pedal that I could find. The Metal Muff is that pedal. When I tune down to drop c, crank the distortion all the way up, volume to eleven, it just sounds fantastic. If you play any sort of heavy rock or metal, this is the pedal for you.

This box is great. It's got enough highs to sear your skin and enough growl to peal paint. The gain control gets really sensitive after three quarters and you can get a load of tones from just moving one knob a little, in short, very tweakable. The amount of gain is pretty insane, no need to dime it like other pedals. Nice metal box to throw it in, the only bad thing is you need to take off the back with a screwdriver to remove the battery (small issue). The tone of the distortion is not digital sounding, but watch that top boost! Forget that MetalCore or MetalZone, get a metal muff!
