Sweet little Amp !

I have owned this little amp for a year so far and it is a favorite of mine. Such a tube-like sound (I know...everybody claims that!) but behind a Sparkle-Drive has a very convincing sound and feel. Even without any pedal has totaly organic sound and has nice natural crunch when cranked, cleans up well with guitar volume. Simple controls, classic sound, real loud, nice pine cabinet, been around since the 70's, great customer service, made in the U.S.A!:)

Best Battery Powered Amp on the Market!

The Freedom Amp is one of the best sounding amps, in this size, on the market! I've owned the Roland Micro Cube. The Micro Cube might have a lot of effects but it does not have the QUALITY of sound that the Freedom Amp has. If you need effects buy a pedal. The Freedom Amp sounds much "bigger" than it actually is. I have owned just about every battery powered amp out there. This is the best!

Rolands' better for the money

Tried 1 of these recently. OK, not great. Unless you need more power, the Microcube blows this thing away in versatility, quality of sound, effects, ruggedness and portability. Nice wood cab, and a seemingly solid product, but the notion this amp is better than anything else in it's price range is ridiculous. The Cube 30 destroys it and then dances on the ashes. If you just need a great battery powered amp and volume isn't as much of an issue the Microcube will stun you, especially in rectifier mode and yet costs about half as much. Need more watts in this price range but are not concerned about battery power? Cube 30. All in all however, the Freedom amp is a good product that fills the need for portability but does so in a handsome package with a style all it's own.

The Electro-Harmonix Freedom Amp is the best battery-powered guitar amp available. In fact, I'm sure it would hold its own on a side-by-side comparison with any plug-in amplifier in its price category. There aren't much extras included (One of those famous E-H effects would have been nice), but close your eyes and you'll swear you're listening to a tube-driven vintage amp. Great sound, great price, and oh so convenient (not to mention the classy looks of that well-constructed pine cabinet). Get one--you won't be disappointed.

Outstanding portable amp.

I have owned the freedom amp for about a year and a half. It gets great tone, great volume, easy to use, and it's battery lasts at least 4 hours. The only thing that I think could improve this amp would be an overdrive.
