Sure it's tiny, but do not mistake it for a toy. The Rebel-20 from Egnater is a truly professional amp head with features and sound that are anything but small. Inside you'll find three GrooveTubes 12AX7 preamp tubes, a pair of GrooveTubes EL84 power tubes and a pair of GrooveTubes 6V6 power tubes. Not only do you get the signature Egnater TIGHT and BRIGHT voicing switches, you also have wide range gain control that lets you go from bluesy clean up to roaring high-gain lead all using a single gain knob.

The Watts control lets you turn the Rebel 20's power from 20 watts to 1 watt for bandstand to bedroom volume. This guitar amp head also includes a professional quality effects loop that doesn't "suck tone". But the coolest feature of the Egnater Rebel-20 is the TUBE MIX control—an Egnater first. With the TUBE MIX knob turned counterclockwise you get the classic American sound of the 6V6 power tubes. Set the Rebel 20's knob full clockwise to experience the more aggressive, British sound of the EL84 tubes. For the first time, you can blend the two types of tubes in any proportion you wish to create a truly signature sound.

For years I have searched for a tube amp capable of producing super clean AND Marshall crunch sounds at reasonable volumes. I've used many solid state amps with all sorts of pedal configurations but was never able to find the perfect combination. I tried this amp in a local music store and fell in love at first note! Talk about WOW factor!! Don't let the 20 watts fool you. The Rebel 20 is capable of keeping up with many amps 4 times the wattage. In the "I wish" department, I wish it had a built in reverb and second channel. But, all in all, this thing rocks! Numerous guitar/music magazines have given this amp a 5 star rating with good reason.

I have owned EVERYTHING (Mesa, Marshall, GT, Genz-Benz, Budda, Fender, etc.) in search of the TONE. This unit has the soul I had been looking for. I cannot believe the sound from this amplifier...especially for the price. Although there is no reverb, the "tight" and "bright" switches make big differences in the tone. From bell cleans to a mean growl, this amp does it all.

Had mine for several months and find that it keeps sounding better. Great tone out of the box. It shines with the tube mix at about 1 o'clock-concur with other review. One of the most important features is the effects loop-a feature that differentiates it from other small tube heads like the Orange. Time sensitive effects are vastly smoother through the loop i.e. delays, chorus. It overdrives pretty well but would not be what I consider a high gain rig. Mix in a overdrive or distortion pedal to get to metal sounds. Superb value. Only downfall is single channel but I ABY to a clean amp anyway. Buy it.

I baught this amp and I have to tell you that you would be crazy not to buy one if you are in the market. If you are used to solid state amps and you get this amp, you will be blown away. Any adjictive you have heard to define tone can be produced with this amp. If you have a decent fx pedal, you can effectivly make this a 2 channel amp. You should buy this amp before sellers realize that they could mark it up a couple of hundred bucks. The day after I got my amp, I went on one of those boats that goes into international waters, and I had the Captin marry us. For real, its that good. Oh, I play a LP and the amp is plugged into a valve jr cab.

I've played a lot of guitars and amplifiers over 40+ years, and I think this is the most useful, hot-sounding amp I've come across in a long time. My first reaction was that it sounded generic, but I took it out to play and found out I was completely wrong. All the controls actually do something, especially the gain control which really lets you dial in the sound you want. And once you dial that in, if your sound man asks you to turn down, you just turn the wattage control down, and nothing changes except your level. The tube mix is more subtle if you're playing quietly, but it really works at high volumes. The amp sustains well, and you can turn up the highs without getting nasty blare. I'm very, very impressed.
