The ESP LTD JD-600 Jon Donias electric guitar features a solid mahogany body with a killer flamed maple top and a mahogany set-thru neck. The set-thru neck joint reaches deep into the body wood to maximize contact, assuring a tremendous amount of string vibration transfers throughout the entire guitar. Those vibrations are sent to your amp by two beefy active EMG pickups: an EMG 85 at the bridge and an EMG 81 at the neck.

To keep your signal clean and mean, ESP has limited the controls to a single volume knob and a 5-way pickup selector. The JD-500 guitar's neck features a fast U-shaped profile and an ebony fingerboard with 22 extra jumbo frets, perfect for high-speed shredding. Black Nickel hardware completes the metal-ready look.

I was skeptical when I first ordered, however that soon ended when it arrived. The setup was ok, string action was way too high, so I brought it down, restrung it (which took no time thanks to the lockers) and fired her up. Through my VHT SigX and Framus Cobra 4x12 it sounded amazing. The deepest sounding guitar in my arsenal, with a blooming midrange and a nice brilliance to the highs. Frankly, it sounds heavy as hell, and I had to back off the bass to keep things from falling off shelves/walls. I played it that night at a gig in hollywood, and it was flawless. Its also very pretty which is a plus, (girls dig it too). Buy it.

This guitar is an amalgam of every custom option I've ever wanted. The neck is thick and comfortable, the tone is full and articulate but not muddy and the visual appeal is off the scale. Its understated but it is absolutely beautiful IMHO.

I did switch the pickup positions, but other than that (Personal preference), its a winner right out of the box. 2 enthusiastic thumbs up.
