Best mahogany/set-neck for your buck

These Vipers blow away a real SG for playability and even tone. I'm in the process of modding mine with chrome hardware, a stetsbar tremolo system, some locking tuners, and maybe new pickups. However, as is, these guitars blow away Gibson SGs (except for the lack of a traditional vintage vibe). The bodies are solid mahogany and full of tone, the necks are slimmer and faster. The standard pickups, in my opinion, rip compared to the one-dimensional sounding SG stock 498T. I never thought I'd say that because the 498T sounds great in Les Pauls. The Gibson SG sounds muddy compared to this these. For practicality, playability, and tone--this guitar is the way to go. The best SG-styled guitar, hands down.

This guitar is beautiful. I own the white with gray pearl inlays and it looks and plays amazing. The EMG Active 81/85 combo is perfect for metal and still sounds amazing clean. I play through a Line 6 head, crate half-stack and a Digitech DF-7. The variations are endless, and the results are always great. For the price, it's the best option out there.

Ive used this guitar for over 2 years now. Played Metal mostly. It's hard to play anything else now. Its very comfortable, not to heavey. Ive played a couple friends guitars at concerts to try to mix it up a bit(les paul custom, fender strat). But every guitar i play doesnt even compare. Great price for a Great guitar.

My first real guitar was a viper 200 fm, great guitar! About a year ago I invested in the 400 it is the best guitar anyone can own period. I play though a mesa half stack, the combo is the best for metal, hardcore, etc. Don't listen to anyone that says its awkward to play if you have an oz. of strenght you'll be fine. But at first I can see it being a little werid. DO NOT change the strap button! The button saves lifes. BUY THIS GUITAR!!!!

I got mine a year ago and have loved it ever since. Totally awesome quitar! Craftsmanship is much better than my Fender Strat even though my strat is great too!
