I have been playing guitar for about 8 years now, and the EC 400 is the best guitar I have ever purchased. It feels great when you play it and the sound from those EMGs are awsome! If you are looking for a great guitar for a great price, you have to pick one of these up and try it. You won't want to put it down!

I've had this guitar for about 2 years now. I placed an EMG 85 in the bridge, substituting the Custom 5 that came stock. Wow, what a difference. The guitar itself plays like a dream. I run it through an Orange Rockerverb 100 Head and an Orange 412 cab and it sounds amazing.

Buddy of mine lent me this to use while my Epi LP and Epi Dot were getting pup replacement. Sunburst model w/ Duncans. If you like a thin neck, lite weight LP copy, this is it. Lighter, hotter pups, thinner neck, better hardware (tuners, jack, switch). Granted, my Epi with 57 Classics is better, but it cost close to 1K to put together. Careful with the EMG models though - played one at local store, and uber-hot with lousy cleans. Only other axe in this price range I like as much is the Yamaha AES620. More heft, better sustain, thicker neck.

From what I little I know about guitars

I ordered the vintage sunburst with seymour duncans, without the faintest idea of what the guitar would sound like, or how it would play.

After playing around and composing some, I found the pickups to be such an improvement over my old guitar! On clean, the neck pickup really carves out notes with powerful yet subtle resonance. And when playing with distortion both the neck and the bridge pickup sound exact and not too noisy. It's definitely easy to use the individuality of both pickups to pump some dynamic into the songs you play.

The neck is very very fast, and easy to play. In fact it makes playing a ton easier :)

Although it is a bit difficult to play after the 20th fret or so (the top of the body kind of blocks your fingers from fretboard where the two meet)it's definately not going to stop you from playing up there. So I guess it's just a little bit uncomfortable.

One thing that always takes me by surprise is the guitars ability to always stay in tune. It blows my mind!

The only problem I had with the guitar is it's weight. Although most people would consider it pretty light, it's waaay too heavy for me. And I bet that's why it sounds so good.

However the fact that it's heavier than my old starter ibanez is pretty disappointing, I mean I can't wear this thing through a show.
