Metallic Gold

The ESP EC-400 Archtop Electric Guitar gets its musicality from a resonant mahogany body. A 3-piece, 24-3/4" scale, mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard decorated with flag inlays and the model name at the 12th fret give the EC-400 eye-appeal. For pickups it has a set of Seymour Duncan JB59s. Controls on the EC-400 guitar include 2 volumes, a tone knob, and 3-way toggle. Fully bound in creme. Chrome hardware with an Earvana Compensated nut, Grover tuners, a Tune-o-matic-style bridge with stop tailpiece and 22 XJ frets complete the EC-400.

This is an amazing guitar... Easily one of the best LP clones you can get. The true Seymor Duncans sound incredible, unlike cheesy "Duncan Designed" pickups. Some people have said there's no low end, but I have to disagree, it sounds so rich and creamy. Such a full sound, if a LP is a 10, this is a 7. If you are experiencing no low-end, you've probably cranked the tone knob, and duh that's gonna happen. Awesome guitar, awesome value... I recently got mine coil-tapped and it sounds amazing, single coil or humbuckers...I Also play live a lot, it's very versatle. Totally get it.

Top quality. Resonates better than any Epi which is whats its all about. LPs resonate & project in combination w/ good pups. This gtr can do it.

I love Gibsons. I really do. I play a 335 mostly. But this is an excellent LP clone. Good build quality; a cut above most other imports. Good quality parts and very good pickups. Doesn't have the too-shiny overdone look of some of the others. You'd pay nearly three times the money to equal this in a Gibson. An excellent buy.

I picked up one of the EC 400AT Black w/chrome and was not impressed by the factory set up. It took 2 adjustments and some new strings to get it playable. It feels good but the JB/59 set did not sound convincing. I even pulled the pickups to make certain they were the real SD set. Anyway, it plays OK now and the compensated nut is nice but the pots must be poor quality because the pickups have little or no bottom end. When selected individually the pickups sound OK but together they are very muddy no matter how I try to blend them. BTW, the closest volume pot is for the bridge pickup so that is different and sensible for playing live. You just have to remember it. All in all it is better than an Epiphone but I was left feeling like there was something lacking in the tone and overall mojo of the instrument. I have a Dean Czech evo w/ a set of Gibson 490R 498T that has way more balls and tone. I have had the JB 59 set before so I know what to expect tone wise and it is not all there. The build quality of the guitar is very good and the balance is good. Overall weight seems a little on the light side to me. Maybe the JB59 set is not up to snuff in the one I got. I have always like the Seymour Duncan products myself. Not a terrible instrument by any means, just not blowing my mind. Kinda disappointed. I'll probably sell it this summer and continue my search for another Les Paul body guitar. This is not a bad instrument so I won't give it a bad review. It seems like maybe swapping the volume pots will be the answer.

Went to the grand opening of the clearance center in Kansas City. What a mob on the first day! It was great, waited in line for 45 minutes. It was worth the wait. This guitar was supposed to have a flaw in the finish but I couldn't find it. The set up was great and was in tune. The nut on the input jack was loose, that's all.
