I've owned this guitar for several months now, and am extremely pleased with it. Usually, I'm an LP player, and this guitar has a lot of the LP feel (and same scale), although with superior ergonomics. It's quite a bit lighter than the LP, and the back is dished-out for comfort. Since the body is somewhat thinner, and the cutout is more toward the body, it's easier to reach the highest frets. The EMG pickups are favorites among metal players, but I find that they're actually very versatile; they also produce good clear tones -- which can extend well into the treble range (unlike many humbuckers). The finish, I find, is superb (I have the green model with a quilted maple top). I also like the locking tuners, locking bridge components, and the compensated nut. Personally, I prefer knobs with numbers on them, but that can be remedied for about $5. I used to be a USA-built snob, but the Koreans have won me over; they're doing some great work, and this guitar is a case in point! A great value!

this guitar has everything you want or need for metal and rock. the neck is perfect and the action is godly. sound quality is as good as it gets for what it does. for the record i own a viper 500 and a mh-400, both awesome, this plays a million times better and sounds a million times better. however, i decided to go with a gibson les paul standard over this. when you really do a side by side comparison... there IS no comparison. gibson is certainly over priced, so if you're a young kid who is looking for a les paul style guitar this is most definitely the best pick. for the $ nothing even touches it.

Seems like it's saying a lot... That's saying it all... this guitar is THE guitar. You want to sound like a professional? You need to check out the LTD EC-1000... with this guitar, you have no excuses, if you can't sound good with one of these, you just don't sound good. Period. I've owned mine in Vintage Black for about three years, still like new, still plays perfect and sounds perfect. I've owned two Gibson SG Standards, great guitars, but they just don't even compare to these, the action, the sound, the tone... and right out of the box it was pretty much perfectly set up and intonated... believe me, you need to find out what you're missing. Metal, Rock, Alternative, Country and even amazing clean tones... can it sound like a Fender, no, but a Fender can ONLY sound like a Fender, so Fender fans need not apply. You want a guitar that will kick your rich friends Gibson in the nads, get an LTD.

This is an amazing guitar. Itis very very well built and the EMG's make this an Extremly Metal Guitar. This is the best guitar for its price and the see thru black cherry looks amazing on it. I have a Line6 HD 150 head anda Peavy Valve king cabinet and it sounds BRUTAL!!! This guitar is worth every penny YOU have......BUY IT!!!!!!

i have been playing a gibson studio and felt that the time was about right to upgrade but a real gibson les paul standard was a great deal out of my price range. i heard good things about esp and decided that an ec 1000 with duncans would be a good compromize. after recieving it i was blown away by its sound quality and versitility. all in all i am much happier with my esp than my studio.
