Delicious little wah

This pedal is simply DELICIOUS, I play a lead very much influenced by Matt Bellamy, and Hendrix, so I need a wah with a good middle position, so throught my searches, this seemed the best, and it has since served me well. This thing runs through batteries like wild fire, the battery compartment is a little difficult to reach as well, but this is easily avoided by using an adapter. This thing has an abrupt sweep that produces a great sound for hammer-on laden riffs, and this thing as any great wah should, imparts a retro vibe to any rhythm it's used on, all in all this is a great wah-pedal, Auf Wiedersehen!

Out of the box it was a little disappointing. It was the most common fault that you always hear about when it comes to Dunlop Crybabies... scratchy pots. I've had many Wah pedals in my 30 years of music including 2 original Thomas Organ Co. Crybabies. I've replaced a lot of pots because they just wear out just like the frets of a guitar or anything else. Turning down the volume might be the answer for some but if you really want some dynamic snarls while playing clean then that's not the option. The problem is with Dunlop's Hotpotz. I guarantee that replacing the original pot with something generic or better a Black Bear 100K (for half the price of the OEM) will make any Crybaby wail like some pro's rig. The Fasel inductor in the GCB-95F really does make a difference and is a God's send. The modern additions such as a battery compartment/access and the 9V DC input are great. Last comment, the GCB-95F employs sophisticated micro electronic circuitry. The pot, inductor and a couple of capacitors are all that's mod-able without specialized equipment. If you want a Crybaby to mod then stick with the GCB-95 and build on that.

The sound I wanted without the scratch

This pedal sounds very good and has a decent sweep range. Some people have complained that the pedal sounds scratchy on the clean channel of the amp. I have noticed this too; however, I know how to avoid this. When the guitar's volume pot is turned all the way up to 10, the pedal will scratch on the clean channel. When the guitar's volume is turned down to between 6 to 8, the scratching is gone! The problem is that the guitar's volume is simply over-driving the pedal. I think this should be common sense, but it's not. Turn the guitar down, turn the amp up; problem solved. I recommend this pedal to anyone who is looking for the vintage wah pedal sound. It's very easy to use, built very well, and sounds great!

Scratchy sound on clean channel

I have purchased two of these pedals in a row with the same problem. They make a distinct scratch sound when playing on a clean channel. It happens when playing and strumming very gentle. I have run them through my JSX head and tiny terror. They sound awesome on the distorted end of things, but if you play clean, SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE!!

Less Than Desireable

Okay, Dunlop is for the most part a very good and quality brand. This pedal on the other hand is NOT! As most people know Hendrix never played this pedal and he probably wouldn't accept is as anything more than one more useless pedal. The pedal is built to be very strong and durable, and it is, but it only gives you two options, super low and super high with nothing in between. There is no sweep between the two ends of the spectrum it is a pedal without a valuable use and I unfortunately was too stupid to return it and get a better wah pedal such as any vox wah or any other brand than Dunlop. To my dismay this Dunlop Wah is by far my least favorite pedal ever!
