This amp is ok if you like crap. Has soon as you turn up the gain it sounds like hell. The tune sounds so dull and die. I can't even play this thing any more because of the sound. So now I'm saving up for a marshall half-stack. Going cheap for a is not the you want to go. The guitar is has good has the amp.

Good amp for beginners

This is a very good amp for beginners. It's quiet and very portable. I would only recommend it for the first few months of learning guitar, after that it's not really useful. If you have the money spend 100 more and get something that will be useful for some time, but if you're broke like me then this is a good option.

Great Budget Amp!

I purchased this amp as a Christmas present for my daughter. When I first opened the box, I thought that I had made a mistake and should have purchased a more expensive amp. The covering is a cheap looking and feeling vinyl - definitely not the rugged exterior of say, a Peavey. Then I noticed that the closed back was stapled on - oh no.

Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I plugged it in. A wide range of overdrive tones can be dialed in using the gain and volume controls, plus it sounds pretty good clean, too. All EQ settings are responsive. All controls are quiet - no scratchiness. This amp can crank plenty loud for a practice amp!

I can now see that Drive cut corners on appearance to deliver a quality practice amp at an inexpensive price. For what I paid, I feel that I definitely got my money's worth! This would make someone a great practice amp, and is small enough to be portable. If the vinyl wears off, just cover it with some black duct tape :-)

It's okay to start with, I guess, but once you start getting good, you'll realize it's a piece of junk, and want something better. It sounds pretty bad clean, so you'll have to crank up the gain to get an okay sound. It's good to start with, and good for the money, but otherwise a crappy amp. So if you have the extra money, go for something better.
