Digidesign's Eleven Rack is a revolutionary guitar recording system designed to solve the challenges guitarists face in the studio. Eleven Rack uses a unique tone cloning design and one-of-a-kind, custom-designed True-Z input to re-create the experience of playing through a mic'd amp. By combining studio-standard Pro Tools software with a DSP-accelerated high-resolution interface, Eleven Rack puts professional recording into the hands of every guitar player. Whether you're tracking in the studio or playing on stage, this rackmountable multi-effects processor delivers fresh, mind-blowing, hyper-realistic guitar amp and effects tones that will inspire your best performances.

Digidesign Eleven Rack in the Studio
Eleven Rack combines studio-standard Pro Tools software with a high-resolution, dual DSP-powered audio interface, so you'll never have to worry about latency when recording, thanks to its built-in amp/effects tones, nor will your computer have to carry the processing burden. Additionally, Eleven Rack takes re-amping to the next level by recording both dry and processed guitar signals simultaneously, allowing you to re-amplify later without patching a single cable. Digidesign even found a way to embed the Eleven Rack amp and effects settings into the audio tracks you record, enabling you to automatically recall those settings from your audio files on any Pro Tools system with the Eleven Rack.

Digidesign Eleven Rack On Stage
Eleven Rack also rocks onstage as a standalone amp tone and effects signal processor. Digidesign pulled out all the stops to make sure it sounds and feels just like playing through the real deal. The guitar effects processor comes with a classic collection of guitar effects, from must-have stompboxes to world-class rackmount studio processors. Eleven Rack has all the I/O flexibility you need to integrate it into your existing rig, and easily incorporate the tones you've recorded with into your live setup—closing the gap between studio and stage. Eleven Rack rackmount processor also offers incredibly powerful control options using affordable MIDI controllers and expression pedals, giving you full foot control over everything from vintage wah effects to tempo-driven delays and more.

Amazing

Got the Eleven Rack several weeks ago and it was love at first sound!!! I've been a long time Lin6 user - Flextone III, Pod XT Live, and M13 - the Eleven Rack blows these away! If it was just and amp simmulator alone, it would be worth every penny, but it's much more.

Unfortunately, I had to return mine to MF, as it was missing some cables. I am currently waiting on a replacement, and it's driving me crazy not being able jam with it. Hopefully, MF will send a replacement with the arrival of their Jan 7 shipment.

My favorite amp simm is the Black Duo - sounds unbelievable and I get a great rhythm crunch when I use ER's Green OD pedal. Distortions are much better than anything Line6 has to offer. I love all of the Marshall sims!

I've never used Pro Tools, which is included with the ER. Unfortunately, I am a Win7 user, and Pro Tools LE does not support Win7 - although they are working on a patch, and they now have a Public Beta version.

The only downside that I see to the ER is that a dedicated foot controller is not inlcuded - which is essential for live use. Unfortunately, you'll have to buy a midi controller (they reccommend the Voodoo Lab controller), and that'll cost you another couple of hundred bucks.

If your chasing tone and want lots of quality options, Eleven Rack is the answer!

Bottom line - GET IT!

I own and use Rocktron Voodu Valve, DigiTech RP 355, and POD XT Live, and have used most everything else. To my ears, this one is hands down the best sounding. It is easy to get a good clean out of pretty much any multi-fx these days, but to me, when you get down to the distorted sounds of the amp sims, that is where you get the drop off between modeled stuff and the real thing. Properly set up, this unit does indeed feel like an amp, with what they call the True Z input for matching impedance (mine works just fine set to auto, but they have many settings in here e.g. 22k ohm + cap); unlike many of the units I have tried, you get the definition of single notes in an over-driven chord, and the sound is sparkly - they sound "right", without the strange accompanying ghost sounds you hear out some of the other units with distortion and fx on. If I play mine through a Boogie tube combo amp power section set on 2, I get unexpected sweet crunchiness! Put this on 4, good night! Controlled feedback is musical. One thing that you must do with this unit is to be sure and choose the correct type of output for the purpose - for example into my tube combo amp I can run it as Rig Output No Cab into the power section, and let amp speakers speak for themselves. The speaker cab simulations are quite nice without an amp - into headphones, for recording, etc., and there are plenty of choices for cabs and mics. The effects, while limited in number, are very close to what they were modeled after. Real good Tape Echo, Phaser, etc.. I have read some complaints about some of them not having a mix, such as the phaser, but neither did the actual stomp box. This is all moot if you are recording into Pro Tools with it. I can get a cutting to smooth lead easily. I have been testing this thing with a Warmoth Fat Strat w/ Air Zone humbucker, and Area 61 singles, and an Ibanez RG with Evolutions. If you can't get good distorted rhythm and lead sounds out of this box with the handful of high gain amp and distortion pedal offerings, then your guitar doesn't love you anymore. To me, the interface is not as intuitive as say the XT Live, and to really know this thing well for live purposes took a while, but well worth it. For instance I think I would rather have a universal gate that has front panel access, and there are other quirks to negotiate, but that is okay. Recording through this box into Pro Tools Le 8, into windows 7 (not supported yet by Digidesign) works very well - no hitches so far. I really like having the outboard DSP to handle the simulations, as opposed to my half decent computer. Oh....and what about the amp sims? They sound quite good. Better than anything I have used, which is pretty much everything. For me, I care more about getting the sounds I want, and not so much getting an exact Plexi, MKII, etc.. If I wanted to get an exact Plexi I would save up and buy one. This is not to say that this unit cannot get a killer 800, Twin or what have you. If you think the Fractal Audio unit is for you, absolutely go get that bad boy. But for what this thing costs, for the things it does (not enough room to mention the re-amping feature with Pro Tools, go check their website)... If used properly, you will not be disappointed!
