The performance and sound of the new DigiTech Whammy Pedal with MIDI Control are reminiscent of the original red WH-1 Whammy. All the favorite whammy settings that guitar players covet are available again at the touch of a knob. Added is a new Dive Bomb effect, similar to that of a Floyd Rose whammy bar pushed all the way to the body of the guitar. Another new addition is a MIDI-in jack, allowing remote control of effects via MIDI devices. Both type and control are accomplished via MIDI program changes and CC messages respectively. Wet/Dry outputs are provided.

This pedal is AWESOME..espescially when used in conjunction with other pedals! BUT people keep complaining of it not returning to the original tone..This has happened to me 2 times..over the course of a year..the first was because my pants were too long and they were getting caught underneathe the treadle---Problem solved.. The next time it took a simple re-calibration (takes 20 seconds after reading the manual instructions) Never been a problem since...Solid Construction and comes with a POWER SUPPLY (always a bonus)

I play bass and while I wish some of the features of the old Bass Whammy were included, this thing still rocks!!! try with overdrive and/or envelope filter..Craziness!

The digitech whammy is a great pedal because you get so much. You can get 2 octaves up!! The two best parts about the pedal are the deep option in the detune section because it sounds like come as you are and the 2 octaves up setting is great because it has the sound of tom morello in songs like killing in the name or fist full of steel and other stuff like that. Overall this is a great product. If you don't mind the price you'll love it. P.S. most of the time can get it some were else used for less.

Fixing the return pitch

I recently borrowed a friend's Whammy pedal, and I have to say it's really sweet. Great features, apparently the WH1 Whammy sounds better but I've never used it, so I can't vouch for that. It's great for emulating the sound made by artists like Tom Morello, etc, and is very useful in developing a unique sound to your own style of playing. It is a bit expensive, unfortunately. Overall I'd say it's one of the most fun pedals I've used, I'll definitely be buying one soon.

But on to the topic of my review - I've noticed that, as many reviewers have said, sometimes the Whammy will stop returning to the original pitch, even when the rocker is all the way back. I was freaking out, because I though I'd broken my friend's pedal. But it turns out the fix is really simple. Unplug the pedal, put the rocker in the toe-down position, and hold down the toggle switch while simultaneously plugging it back in. Release the toggle switch when one of the red status LEDs starts blinking. Then sweep the rocker all the way back and forth a couple of times or more, and hit the toggle switch. This will re-calibrate the pedal. Hopefully this saves some buyers a lengthy RMA process.

The features are cool, but the whammy doesn't return to original tone. It is not because the pedal is not calibrated, but the rubber stops at the bottom of the pedal are either to long or to stiff. so I guess you could shave the stops a bit, but that would void the warranty I'm sure. Paid to much to have to screw with it in my opinion

I wanted to write this review because of one thing. For anyone wondering, you can emulate Dime squeals with the dive bomb effect. The dive bomb effect is actually very, very impressive and convincing in all aspects of dive bomb tone. Also, if you're wondering, the drop tune drops your pitch one whole step, the pitch shifting is not intelligent, and overall, this pedal is very easy to use and is very fun to jam with.
