Excellent- If you know how to use it.

I bought this thing about 2 years ago, but up until recently, I had only used the preset sounds in it, which I was very unhappy with. Being unhappy, I got the manual from this site and started reading it and following it, and I was blown away by what this thing can do. It has sooooo many tweaks that you can adjust. If you're looking for that perfect sound in the studio, this is the thing to use. I wouldn't use it live, but it's not meant to be a giant stomp box. Put some time into figuring it out, and learning all of the parameters, and you will be very surprised. The only thing I think it lacks is some sort alterable distortion effect besides fuzz (which it already has). That's not a problem, though, just run a DS-1 or something before it, and you're set. One thing I really like is the virtual speaker cabinets and mic positioning options. You can basically plug straight into an interface and go ampless, but still get the crank and sound of a huge cabinet. Another great feature is the ability to change the physical sound of your guitar with the humbucker->singlecoil, or singlecoil->humbucker option. If you have a guitar with humbuckers, you can make it sound like a single coil guitar by just turning a knob, or vice-versa. Great product. Like I said, not great for live and changing sounds quickly, but perfect for creating the perfect sound you have in your head, without buying a bunch of expensive equipment.

This unit is great for direct recording (which I do a lot of). The effects sound huge and they're fully adjustable to suit your needs. It's very easy to learn how to work this thing (even for a techno. problem child like me). The only negetive points I give to the RP300a is, it lacks sound quality at high volume pumped through screaming amps. I admit this problem would probably be corrected if I spent more time playing with the controls. Other than that.......I love this thing!

Not a tube-amp wuality distortion, but it's do-able. If you're not used to effects such as delay, wah, ya-ya, reverb, etc., then this is good to noodle around with. A fun pedal for trying new things, and maybe even for studio, but not so great live.

I bought this piece of junk about a year and at the time was debating if I should by the line 6 pod live instead. Let me tell you I will never cheap on aything again. If any one wants one I'll sell ya mine cheap barely used even. The sounds are horrible and the only thing I liked was being able to hook up two amps at once with its 2 outputs. And the a/b amp switch was also pretty cool. the distortion seriously is awful.

This pedal sounds cool, but is very complicated to tweak and use. The knobs are not very well though out. The amp, distortion, and effects models are pretty good, but it is not very well made. At first, the unit started making a very loud screech. This was fixed by dropping it on the floor. But then, the expression pedal strated to become stiff, and now it is almost impossible to use. Plus, there is really no way to get to the gear to lube it, so this problem is just about unfixable. I'm thinking about getting a Zoom G2.1u pedal instead.
