Worth the money

I've been actively gigging in a bar band, probably 40 dates a year, for the last two years with this pedal. It's not the best pedal you can buy, but it's certainly not bad either. As far as complaints that the sounds suck, most of the factory presets aren't that useful. But if you take the time to overwrite them with new patches of your own design, you'll be rewarded with some very useful sounds. It really does have nearly every effect imaginable, and I find it very easy to program and use. Every parameter is easily tweaked, you just have to get in there & do it. As far as the build quality, there are a couple of issues. First, the quality of the jacks aren't that hot. More annoying is the switches to step through the presets. On the bottom of the blue footswitches are rubber pads that depress the internal microswitch. In time, these compress and lose contact with the switch. Fortunately, it's an easy fix. Remove the bottom plate and the circuit board and pull the rubber plugs out. Add a dab of thick glue, like epoxy, to the end of the rubber pad and reinsert it into the plastic holder. Just be sure you don't insert it quite as far as before, and it will work fine. I've had the switches stop working during a gig because of the pads, and that's very irritating. Luckily, I use two of these units with an A/B switch between, so I was able to muddle through. Otherwise, the build quality is quite rugged. The housing is a heavy cast-metal design that should stand up to years of use. If Digitech would fix the issue with the rubber pads and use better jacks, it would deserve a much higher rating.

Not the best pedal

I've had this pedal for a couple years now, but I don't use it for anything other than messing around with. There are a lot of features, but most of them have a horrible quality. It sounds like cheesy sci-fi movie effects. This pedal also isn't very durable. The button for switching modes broke on my pedal, and I had to take the pedal apart to fix it. My friend with the the same pedal had a similar problem. It also occasionally shells out and stops working when I'm using it. I don't recommend this pedal, and I would never think of using it for a gig because of the bad sound quality and its lack of reliability.

Only buy this if you would like to play arcade guitar with 400 different names. The effects are all cheesey and electric. it reminds me of one of those toy plastic keyboards. Don"t waste your money.

I've had the old DigiTech pedals from my hay days in the 80's. I've used DOD's, BOSS, GK's...etc. I've used banks of foot pedals and tons of rack mount effects with Gibson's, Peavey's, Fenders, and now Epiphone. This is a good jamming pedal with just about every sound you could want, but it does sound thick and sometimes muddy. Most of the preprogrammed effects to me are useless, but there are a few that stand out and can be used for any Rock or Heavy Metal song. The tuner is garbage; it jumps all over the place. I'd highly recommend not using it and stick more with a Boss Chromatic tuner or something comparable. I'd have to say if you buy one you won't be disappointed, it has some great effects and is by far a great buy for the money. Would I gig with it? Sure, but only for small places. I prefer rack mount effects.

there's really no problem with this that I've found. Sounds sweet on my Peavy and Behringer amps but they are both solid states. This thing has every sound you could possibly want already pre-set into the thing! As far as wear and tear, I've only had it for about 4 monthes and I use it at least every other day if not all the time!
