The DigiTech HardWire Series TL-2 is a metal distortion pedal that lets you pick your poison. Metal can come at you fast with tight low-end and a crunching top—or stalk you slowly with a low, throaty roar that sizzles on the high end. The TL-2 distortion pedal's Tight/Loose switch controls the "tightness" of the low end and adjusts the midrange frequency to provide the best overall tone. Level, Gain, and Low, Mid and High tone controls with sweepable midrange allow you to dial in any tone with ease.

The HardWire pedals series represents the DigiTech commitment to quality and attention to subtle details. In addition to technical enhancements like true bypass and high voltage operation, all HardWire pedals feature rugged, all-metal construction; a wide, stage-stable footprint; durable, custom-machined metal knobs for a sure grip; and precision potentiometers that guarantee knob positions will stay intact.

The rugged, durable construction of Extreme Performance Pedals is just the beginning. Inside each HardWire pedal are technological features that serious players require—all updated and improved to their utmost capacity. True bypass preserves the purity of your original tone as signal passes through the pedal, and high voltage operation further protects your sound by eliminating clipping and other signal degradation caused by power drain.

With the high-output pickups found on some electric guitars, it's not unusual to hear clipping when playing through an effects pedal. This occurs when the voltage range produced by a guitar's pickup is greater than the operating voltage of the effects pedal—normally limited to the voltage supplied by the effect's battery or power supply. HardWire pedals incorporate circuitry that increases the operating voltage headroom above that of the typical pedal. As such, HardWire pedals benefit a wider range of guitars and are also at home in an amplifier's effects loop.

DigiTech HardWire Series TL-2 Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal Features:

  • 2-position Tight/Loose voicing switch

metal pedal tone

this pedal is very responsive in all its controls, even the tight/loose switch (which on so many products doesnt impact the tone nearly as much as it should) has a very noticeable impact on tone, it fattens up single coils particularly nicely. the level control is great, it sounds the same on 1 as it does on 10. as far as the tone controls, theyre very responsive and interactive with each other. the gain knob saturates like the gain eq shape on an amp, with more low mid focus and compression as it turns up, and you can balance this with the mid and mid freq controls to tailor to whatever kind of distortion is in your interest.

Awesome for hard rock and metal

I've had this pedal for a bit over a month. This thing does take some time getting used to. But once you figure out how to get different sounds, you can get anything from the classic sounding distortion, like in AC/DC or Black Sabbath, to the really sharp, heavy distortion like you hear in Megadeth, Pantera, Metallica, etc. Highly Recommend it. But make sure you mess around with it a lot and find all the different tones you like out of it.

This is a great pedal for many different styles of metal. It can even get a tone similar to dimebag's if you tweak it right. Has plenty of gain and a wide eq range. I play this through a Laney half stack and it sounds beastly. True bypass and superior construction, much better than boss's single pedals.

I got this on a whim at a guitar shop, and immediately hated it. I've played an RG, and Exit 22, a dean vmnt, and a jackson KE3 through it with both a crate flexwave 212 and a tech 21 tm30 amp, and I can't find any good sound with it. It also adds a LOT of volume to the guitar, which is really annoying because I live in an apartment.

I bought this pedal about six months ago and i am blown away by it. I spent a lot of time researching for a good pedal for metal, that will still give good clarity and this is BY FAR the best one i found. it has a variety of different sounds, and has the potential to make any amp sound good. i play a prs standard 22 through it and it sounds amazing
