A couple improvements needed!

As most have said, this is a tuff little dude to tame. I have had it for a couple of years and just now starting to get the hang of it. The synth, when set at 12:00 (all knobs) sounds great for a keyboard comp. That 12:00 setting gives pretty darn good results. The drawback? Make it digital, so we can customize each sound and SAVE THEM! C'mon digitech, It can't be that hard! The distortion patches are cool, but when you set one, like the Muff, the knob settings don't sound so good for other distortion patches. The distortion patches ned to be independant of the other sounds. The Crybaby I like, but the vox wah has a weak spot in the play of the pedal and gives a strange sound, that is quite noticeable. Someone just wrote that you can set the whammy to octave up, and turn the mix down to far counter clockwise and get distortion only. I will try that!

just got this thing and i can already tell its going to take me a while to figure the whole thing out. it just has so much stuff, but yet the sound quality is actually really good for a multi effect. u have to be standing up to turn it on, but i kind of like the fact that its built for toughness. the distortion feature is really good, and the space station is probably the coolest thing i've heard. its really good if you're looking for something a little different than regular effects. the rotary speaker is really good too ... i think every serious guitarist should have that effect just because its like a really natural sounding phase. not a big fan of the flange or the whammy, but i don't really like those effects anyway. all this plus two different kinds of wahs saves you a lot of space on your pedal board and it probably won't break.

I usually try to steer clear of multi-effects pedals, for whatever reason, usually it's just the quality of the effects but the ex-7 is fantastic. Great for players of any experience, has most of the necessities for a beginner, and the bells and whistles for seasoned guitarists looking for a little extra depth. My only complaints are that the heel switch is a little difficult to turn on and off, takes a lot of pressure. And my other complaint is that this pedal has made some of my board almost redundant! It emulates the various distortions and effects to the T. The only reason I'm not getting rid of all my distortion pedals now is that it's a little tricky to mix and match various sounds using only the ones given on the pedal.

This pedal has a LOT of features, you can get over I think five or ten thousand dollars worth of pedals, in this one housing pre-amp. The Cry Baby, and Whammy pedal are my favorites. And, while I might have a defect, only one of the distortions work on mine, without the effect like flanger or something the other on as well. And also, mine just stays in one position as far as sound now, for not even having it a full two years. The wah, stays in the middle of the bass and treble sweep. And that's it. Overall, hope you have better luck with this pedal, as it IS well worth the money!

A year with a monster

I could have used such an amazing title for my pultzer but I realy didn't like this preamp/ effects pedal last year when I bought it. Getting to know this little advisor was quite painfull. We are talking several hours crouched over this thing trying to find just that perfict spot and then realizing after I changed the settings that getting back to that sound was impossible. The physical variations are staggering. HA ! Insane! It took almost a year (im not that bright)to relize that it was absolutly nesesary to right down the settings of sounds I liked but once I made that change(Make up your own system), I was in bliss. It is really amazing what this thing can do to an amp and/or PA. I just don't like how hard I have to push down on the front to get it to turn on.
