Lots of Pros and Cons

Since I perform with Fender tube amps, which have the greatest sounding reverb of all time, I never thought I would buy a reverb pedal. However, for home practicing I bought into the fad for little 5-watt tube amps, which of course have no reverb, so I picked up the Digiverb. For home use this thing works fine. Some settings are better than others. "Room" sounds very realistic, and the "Hall" setting is also very musical at lower settings. The "Church" setting is pretty cavernous but it sounds really beautiful. Shoegazers, goths, and others into ambient sounds would love this setting since it is quite lovely. Somebody will find the reverse reverb settings useful but they are not my cup of tea. The settings that sound horribly fake and digital are the "Plate" setting, and the horrible "Spring" simulation which is over-the-top stupid. Then again, if you want great spring reverb get a Fender amp; there is no substitute. In all, the Digiverb is a mixed bag tonally but is a great value for the money. I would say it is better than the overpriced Boss pedal but soncially not as good as the Marshall Reflector, which is the most natural digital reverb without going for a $300 boutique job. However the Digiverb is a worthy pedal. It is not junk as some others have said, and using strats and teles I have never had a problem with muddy sounds. In fact, I think the pedal has good clarity even layered with a distortion and chorus pedal. If you are recording or plan on gigging a lot with a reverb pedal than get the Marshall. But if you just need something to give your reverb-less amp some ambience, or if your amp's reverb is no good than the Digiverb is just fine.

Well yeah it drains batteries fast but who cares? get a power plug for it, all digital effects do so that, I bought mine used for half the price and I would buy it again for the new price without a second thought, I also have a DigiDelay that is really nice too. I highly recommend this pedal for anyone that is not happy with their stock reverb or for a amp that does not have reverb, it has 7 differnt reverbs which is more than enough unless your VerbCarzy or something, simple to use and heavey duty, never had a issue with anything from Digitech, I run this thru my Vox AC15 tube amp and it sounds great, never cared for the Vox reverb, even replaced the tank. It's nice to run a cord to a 2nd amp too, wow now your talkin some space. For the price it is hard to beat, overall nice unit, happy customer

I've had this for about a year, and have even tripped on it (mostly the morph knob), and it is still in one piece, working fine. With that said, DON'T USE THE CABINET MODELING. That is what gives it the muddy sound. Run it without the CIT, and it sounds great. I mostly use church and hall, sometimes spring. Goes great with chorus and overdrive. Get it.

piece of junk

To be honest I've had this effect for 2 1/2 years and it did what it was intended to do. It sounded ok if somewhat fake. But it's been a pain in the rear for all 2 1/2 years. It drains the batteries at an insane rate, it's near impossible to change the battery, and after said 2 1/2 years it died. I would strongly suggest avoiding this unit.
