The DigiTech Death Metal Distortion Pedal gives you the most extreme distortion you will ever hear. Simply put, the gain is turned up to eleven and then the knob is ripped off. Level, Low, Mid, and High tone controls provide flexible tone shaping so even though the distortion is over the top, your guitar is guaranteed to slice through. Low, Mid, and High tone controls give you the flexibility to boost or cut the bass, middle, and treble frequencies and the Level knob boosts the output level of your signal. An Amp output goes to your amplifier and the dedicated Mixer output has a cabinet emulation circuit that lets you run direct into a mixer or recorder when you don't want to lug your amp along.

DigiTech DDM Death Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal Features:

  • High, Mid, Low, and Level controls
  • Amp and recording/mixer outputs

Unpleasant

I bought this pedal thinking I was getting a good deal on a name brand pedal. I was wrong. To those of you that like this thing... more power to you. Personally, I think the distortion is ok when I'm playing, but like others... as soon as I stop it hums and feeds back bad. It's tolerable when practicing at home, but there's no way I could use it at band practice or at a show. It's just too noisy.

Mud

Is it insane distortion? Yes. Is it fun to play around with it at the garage? Sure. Would I recommend it to a serious musician? Probably not. When it doesn't feed back uncontrollably it's humming unpleasantly. There are ways to deal with the feedback, but there are no ways to deal with the mud. It's just a muddy sounding pedal. And maybe I was doing something wrong or maybe I just don't get the genre. That's fine. But I stopped using it when I switched to professional gear. If you're on a budget and you want metal-worthy distortion, the Ibanez Smash Box is a much better product.

now that i've made the switch to tube powered amps, i realize how bad this pedal sounded, it does have a lot of distortion, but in my opinion it's not GOOD distortion

I love this pedal. its tough and has very heavy distortion. The three band eq is nice. Don't turn the level knob up very high because it can get very loud. This pedal is great by itself, but when combined with a overdrive pedal you can't beat it easily. Great pedal and a must buy if you play any kind of metal.
