Update--some issues....

Have had this guitar now since January of 2009. Well, sort of. The first one I got had some slight buzzing at frets 12 and 13. Returned it and Dean replaced it. But it took forever. Finally got the new one in March. Fine for a few months. Over July 4th weekend some odd bumps started to appear on the top of the guitar below the bridge. Looked like it was warping along the structural supports underneath. Always careful about hot cars, moving in and out of temperature extremes, etc.

As of now it is once again back at the store. I assume it will be returned and (hopefully) replaced.

I really wanted this guitar to work out, it plays very nicely for what I want it for. However this second issue within just a few months leaves me occasionally thinking I should have stuck with Washburn.

I'll update again in a while.

Good buy for the money

This is a pretty sweet guitar for the money, I think. I am pretty much a hobbyist, been playing since the early 80's. I needed to replace my old Washburn acoustic, and after playing a friend's Washburn "Festival" A/E I thought and A/E might be interesting.

First one I bought had slight buzzing at 13th & 14 frets, so it went back. In the mean time, suddenly this guitar was not available anywhere! Waited six weeks for the replacement, but it was worth it. In that same time frame the price increased, so it must be that these are getting popular. I played guitars twice the price and, at my skill level anyway (intermediate at best) I could not justify spending another 300 or 400 for the likes of a Martin or others in that range.

Sounds OK unplugged, decent mids, not a ton of low end but serviceable. Plugged in (I use a Line 6 toneport and some crappy amps!) it is good fun, just be sure to get a sound hole cover. On board tuner is something I never knew I missed! XLR and normal guitar jack. Nice. Controls have that good solid feel. I'd like a strap peg (will have one installed)--I'm not a fan of having to tie a strap link around the headstock.

Overall good looking, decent sounding investment. If you're ready to move up from the really, rally cheap stuff but are worried about spending big bucks, I think this is a nice in-between. I'll try to update this as the guitar breaks in.

I recently recieved this guitar for Christmas. This is the best value for a guitar I have seen in a while. The picture doesn't do this guitar justice. The finish is really much darker and more beautiful then it may seem. The only problem I have is some occasional buzzing on the 6th string. That got cancled out by having a 1/4" and xlr outut plug. If you are looking for a cheap and beautiful guitar, this is it.

This thing is beautiful. It's a little darker than in the pictures, but it is simply magnificent. It is easy to tune and it stays in tune. Easy playability for the most novice guitar player. I couldn't suggest a better bang for the buck.

This guitar looks and sound awesome!! Dollar for dollar one of the best acoustic-electric buys out there. Beautiful guitar with nice binding job. The only drawback that I can add is that the koa look is achieved through a veneer. This guitar is not made out of actual Koa wood.
