My girlfriend just bought one of these, and I was actually impressed by it's playability and tone. I wasn't expecting much, but this definitely beat my expectations. With the mahogany body and set maple neck, it has good tone. It's thinner than a regular LP, but it's still beefy when it comes to tone. The pickups are lacking, I suggest you set aside some funds to replace them, because no matter how much tweaking I did with my amp, they still sounded muddy. It stayed in tune well. she had a 13-56 GHS set on it, and after it was set-up, and I tuned it to B standard, it was lethal. I would recommend it, definitely worth the money.

Solid guitar for the price

I've been playing for about fifteen years now, and have played all kinds of guitars. By far, this is the best guitar I've found for this price - it kills the American made strat I used to own (Which was 2 times the cost in 97)! Stays in tune great no matter how hard I pound on it. The pick-ups are decent but could be replaced with some EMGs. My only complaint is that the finish is virtually impossible to keep clean - that black gloss shows every bit of dust in the air. Overall, a very solid guitar for beginners or those (like me) looking to pick up a guitar again after several years off. My kudos to Dean for making such an affordable, attractive, and playable instrument. Definitely an instrument that makes me want to play hard and good, feels much better than the price would lead you to believe.

BUY THIS GUITAR! First of all you can’t go wrong with Dean (.) That being said. The quality of this instrument is as good or exceeds that of guitars 2 or 3 times the price. The pickups are ok. I replace all of mine with dime buckers anyway. Most musicians replace the pickups on any guitar regardless of the price range. Quality stuff people don’t pass it up!

Pretty damned good guitar

When I got mine I was just a bit skeptical because it is one of the lower end deans but it is without a doubt the best guitar for the price. What I love about this guitar over Gibson Les Pauls is the upper fret access. You can get all the way to the very last fret without having that annoying LP heel in the way. It is equal with my Epiphone 2005 Les Paul custom with EMG's, you know from that new guitar a month thing. Well I just wish it had the standard LP controls Vol/Vol/Tone/Tone 3 way switcher. Buy this guitar seriously.

I got the guitar about 4 months ago and have only had minor problems. I only had two problems with the input jack and the guitar staying in tune but that was easily fixed. If you have some extra cash put some emgs or seymor and duncans on this thing and you will be set for life. Buy it!
