I had this pedal like 10 years ago until it got jacked out of the back of my car while it was in the repair shop. Long story... Anyways, I loved this pedal with a passion. It's probably the only overdrive pedal that gives you so many options for finding that perfect tone for the song you're playing. Seriously, Danelectro makes some of the best pedals I've ever used. Buy this and you won't regret it.

I play and have recorded music. I used this in the studio at one point in time and used it through a fender vibrolux. man was the sound amazing!! I had a ts09 overdrive and just couldnt get it to sound right! No slam to the ts9 though, just got more out this pedal. took it on the road and beat the hell out it. Never ever went bad on me! the sound was always consistent and still have it!! Don't be fooled by the price, this really is a very good overdrive, cant speak for the other danelectro products but this is a keeper. But remember the dials on this is what get you a some really good sounds! If you buy it play with it before you knock it! Awesome pedal!!!

The only overdrive/distortion I use any more

Long story short: I picked this up because I was broke and needed a cheap overdrive that still sounded good. I tried a few at the music store and, as soon as I heard this one, I stopped trying and bought it. That was about 7 or 8 years ago probably and I have beat the crap out of the thing since then. It's taken all that and still sounds great.
Sound-wise, this is a very versatile pedal. It has a nice organic sound that ranges from just a touch of electricity on a clean sound to nice thick beefy Texas blues or grungy sounds. I play everything from country to heavy blues to punk through this, with a PRS and a Strat going into a Mesa Boogie Nomad 44 and Fender Deluxe Reverb. I like a WIDE range of sounds and tones and the Daddy-O fits right into every genre and style.
Bottom line: reliable, great sound, cheap. What else do you want?!

Don't Overlook This Pedal

I heard so many bad comments on Danelectro that I guess it colored my opinion before I gave it a chance. However, I kept noticing this little yellow job sitting on stages all over the place, and had to admit that I really liked the sound that so many people seemed to be getting out of it. I broke down and picked one up not expecting much. Boy...was I wrong. I own (and have owned) a LOT of overdrive and distortion pedals. This one has quickly become my favorite overdrive. The three tone controls allow you to shape the sound to perfection regardless of what type of guitar you are playing. I have two Daddy-Os now, one modified a bit, and one un-modified. They work great individually or in series to give a very unique overdrive sound. I also have an early TS-808 that many consider the "holy grail" of overdrive pedals, and the Dannos leave very little on the table when compared to the TS. The Danno is actually better for "dialing" in the tone of the overdrive. Give one a try...I think you will be as suprised as I was.

Overdrive from the past...

Great overdrive. I use mine for a light bluesy crunch, sounds nice and vintage and great on my semi-hollow. Turning the OD knob to the top wont get you a good sound, and to those who instantly think distortion should be maxed out, this pedal isn't going to cut the grade. But for those looking for a subtle, yet distinct tone with a vintage sound, this is the pedal. Suits me perfectly.
