Best pedal for the money

I've tried several distortion type pedals including the Boss DS-1 as well as the Big Muff. Neither of these gave me that classic sound that I was looking for. The Cool Cat gives me that Zeppelin / Deep Purple sound that I wanted. I run it thru a Blackheart BH-5 tube head (usually kept at 3 watts) and a Blackhead 12" speaker. In my opinion, don't waste your money on a Boss - just get this one - you won't be disappointed. PS: It also pays to get a power supply.

Crushes pedals 3x the price!

I've used my fair share of good distortion pedals and I've used even more bad ones. I run this into my clean tube amp to get some classic rock grind. The controls are responsive and the pedal will can give you a fair range of tones. This is my go to rhythm/less gain pedal. I don't turn the gain past 50% and run it into my Russian Big Muff for mind-blowing leads.

The pedal stomps upon anything in its price range and, to me, sounds better than some really high end Maxon/Ibanez distortions. Great value.

This crunchbox is a keeper...

Provides a beautifully rich "bread & butter" cruncheriffic 80's Marshall sound when you step on it... what else do you want for your rhythm guitar parts? Better built and clearer/warmer/less snarky sounding than the previous similiarly-hued but plastic Dano FAB distortion which I am also a fan of, (plus this one doesn't play havoc with my Planet Waves tuner). A great pedal at any price, but for under $40? fuggettabowdit!! Get one today!

Great value. Sounds nice and smooth, with plenty of range. Separate bass and treble is nice. True bypass. Looks plastic-y in the photo, is is not. Very weighty and solid all-metal construction. The switch is also heavy-duty, and gives you a very satisfying *CLICK* when you step on it. Well worth your $$ here, highly recommended.

I love this pedal! You can create twangy sounds, or turn up the gain, turn up the bass, and the treble down, and turn down the level and you are ready to solo! This would be a great first pedal due to its superior tone, metal casing and metal jacks as well as the range of its sounds. You can easily get a crunch sound on it and I put through my mini marshall, put the tone on the amp at 4 and my epi les paul sounded like a tele! I forget how I got that... Just buy the pedal!
