The VTX200SH is a great sounding, stereo guitar amp head with total control over the DSP section and vintage styling. The effect section of the VTX200SH is designed to take advantage of the STEREO power section to give a huge, spacious sound to your tone. Pumping 100 watts per channel, the VTX200SH amp head combines great sounding analog with total control over the DSP section and vintage styling. This amplifier is designed for the player who is into the vibe and styling of the V-Series, but wants up to a three channel analog amp with "tweakable" digital effects and the ability to program up to six effects in the three channels.

The DSP section includes 30 different highly-customizable effects including Reverb, Delay, Chorus, Flange, Phaser, Octave and Wah. Bypass included.

I'd owned this head for about six months. My only complaint was the foot switch. It appears that the jack from the cable of the foot switch to the amp is actually loose, so if you yank the cable out it could tear that jack up. That happened to mine, I got mine used, so I took it to a local music store and they had the parts to fix it. Other than that there's really no beefs with this amp. For 200 watts it cranks. I was competing with this amp's big brother, the discontinued VTX350 head and it was right on it's heels. I never really messed with the effects on it too much, but if you hook a BBE Sonic Maximizer through this bad boy I'd say it's high gain channel could put a Mesa Boogie up for it's money.

Eventually though, I sold this for money to get the now discontinued Blue Voodoo.

I am getting ready to buy this amp. I've been using a friends for shows and it has a great sound, super high gain on the 3rd channel and the stereo sound is great. The only thing that takes time to learn is how to set the effects. Oh and the tuner is awesome, it works great and you can hit the mute button for quite tuning.

For those of you who haven't experienced it, ...and your numbers are legion, STEREO RULES!

Even an inexpensive solid state amp like this can amaze you with the sweet stereo spread.

What's that? ...you don't think you need stereo? Check your ears. That's earS ...Plural.

Most humans evolved with two ears. Unless you are a Dutch Painter named Vincent, you and everybody in your audience needs stereo.

The effects here are OK. The amp does a decent job of imitating real tube amps. But the stereo effects through a stereo cabinet will definitely improve your perceived production-value.

Now... ...if we can just get Greg Mackie to realize this simple truth!

If you want an extra head to back up your tube head this is it. You get three channels with the same knobs each. 1, 2, and 3 and each one has alot more gain than the last. The head remembers 2 effects settings for each channel. You get chorus, flange, phase, low octave and auto wah and delay and reverb. The stereo effects are unique if you separate cabinets as one cab will have the reverb and one won't for example. This is an impressive looking head and makes it easy to get clean, crunch , and lead in a hurry. I leave all three gains quite low (only about two!) to get the classic rock tones that I'm after. If you maxed them you wouldn't need a pedal in my opinion. The head is about 30 inches wide so make sure your 4 12 bottom is WIDE. Has a nice four button footswitch with lights.

For a while I had low expactations for crate amps but one day I went into a local music store and plugged into a crate vtx200sh not thinking Id'e like it. I was wrong. I started with the lead channel and it totally blew me away then I started playing with the effects (oh my god) I had never played an amp so incredible. The lead channel was searing and the clean channel was crystal clear(I loved it). So I saved up for a while and now it's sitting on top of my old univox speaker cab keeping me entertained and shredding . I LOVE THIS AMP!
