I purchased this amp because it sounds so freakin good. I have not yet heard an amplifier that has a clean channel that is so astoundingly warm that has such a clear crystalline top end. At the same time...it has so much punch to it....There isn't anything I can compare it to. I have never heard an amp with this good of a clean channel....ever. The only "weakness" it has is the lack of any sort of super heavy distortion. Not really a weakness unless you play anything that requires ultra heavy distortion. The overdrive channel is intended to get a mild to heavy bluesy type of distortion....and it does that with excellence. One further note about the heavy distortion....one of my guitars is a schecter with EMG-HZ pickups in it. If I kick in the overdrive channel and MAX the gain, It sounds like the heavy crunch of a Mesa dual rectifier. If you need anything heavier...this amp just doesn't quite have the guts to pull it off. I have been using a PODXTLive into the front end with the clean channel active. Of course...the POD has all my heavy distortion presets. So far...everyone has envied my tones. Had it for about 6 months, and my band gigs at least once a week. I play a huge range of styles: mellow jazz, blues, hard rock, pop, heavy metal, grunge, punk, rap rock....that is all I can think of at the moment...but you get the idea. It is also a 30watt head....don't let that fool you. It is by far the loudest 30watts I have ever heard. It is no 5150 (for those who have owned one of these monsters...you know what the meaning of loud is), but give it a break. It is only 30watts. In comparison, I would say it would would be a 5150 with the master volume set around 4-5. Like I said, It is a LOUD 30watt amp. If you are thinking small practice amp, look elsewhere. This is not the one you are looking for. This is made for live use. To keep it quiet enough not to disturb anyone at night, I literally have to keep the volume knob at somewhere between 0 and 1/2. Turning it all the way up to 1 is out of the question. I haven't had the chance to use it on any recordings yet. Suffice to say, If you are willing to tweak the amp properly you will love the tone, and if you can live with a stomp box giving you your distortion then this amp is pretty well perfect. Well what is there to say. For the money you can't go wrong. I play pretty freaking loud in a Hardcore band and this does great. The clean is really good and the controls are easy and very adjustable. If you are in a Death/Grindcore band this will not work. But if you are into Punk, Hardcore, Rock and Roll, or even country this amp is the best thing going. Seriously

I bought this head to replace my Marshall Mode 4. I currentlly play in an indie rock band and the mode 4 was just over kill. So I checked out this amp and fell in love, and who wouldn't with the price! It's a 30 watt class A head, for only $600! I could sit here and compare this amp to a truck load of others, but instead of doing that this is what I'm going to say. If your looking for a great full sounding crunch perfect for any style of rock and you want a clean channel that can fill a room with great tone then check these out. By far the best amp I have owned to date, and I have owned a lot of tube amps.
