Great Acoustic or Electric amp!

Been using TX50DB for Approx 6 months. Use it for solo acoustic (Takamine) as well as for electric (2 midi CARVINS, midi ARIA Pro, 70 Strat, Traveler Pro) with my 7 piece band. Everyone in the band likes the sound better than my regular amp. Can't say that this is my main gig amp yet (MESA S.O.B. or VOX AD50), but it's always there as my backup.
Some observations:
- Typical charge lasts about 6-7 hours. This will get me through at least 2 rehearsals or gigs (amp stars to distort when charge is low). If I forget to charge using AC charger at home and Bat needs a pick-me-up, I just plug in the 12V adapter and charge it while driving to practice/gig.
- This thing is VERY loud. (Have got to bypass the 10" to run through a 12" or 15", just to see how it sounds!)
- It can sound a bit shrill close up because of piezo "horn", but from a distance, that feature does make the amp sound good and help cut through the rest of the instruments.
- Setting a good tone takes some tinkering with each specific guitar. Controls are a bit touchy.
- Effects are limited. Wish they had gradients between each preset (but for this price you can't complain!). They do need detents for each setting though (are you listening CRATE?)
- There is a slight delay when punching in DSP effects (expected)
- Very light and easy to carry around. 25 lbs I think (absolutely perfect for practice and jam sessions!)
- Use mine with a ROLAND GR20 Synth unit, so it gives me a channel I can distort (straight guitar send) and a clean channel (Synth send) not to mention the separate tone settings for each. Perfect for this application!
- Cuts down set-up time dramatically
- All the controls are rather fragile looking mini pots soldered directly into 2 boards. I can imagine one of them taking a hit during transport and breaking off or cracking a board. I may build a little cover to protect these.
- It can be positioned at three different projection angles. This is such a nice feature when you find yourself jammed into a confined or unusual space to play.
- Many of the knobs are the same color (grey and blue). Makes it hard to know which to turn (especially in dim stage lighting). To solve this I painted 'LEVEL' knobs red, Effects knobs yellow. Helped a lot.
- The CD input is great for learning songs at practice. It's great for playing along with my own recorded accompaniment as well.
- When I use this with my TRAVELER Pro guitar, it’s the perfect combination of sound and portability. I load these on the rack of my bike and go anywhere with it. The acoustic pickup in that guitar sounds great through this amp (the sing-coil is just OK).
I've really come to rely on this little monster in the past few months. If mine were stolen, I'd get another in a heartbeat. It's that nice! I would recommend this amp to anyone.

I bought my TX50DB Limo after having used it's little btother (Taxi 30) for about a year and a half of gigging at nursing homes, small restaurants and (of course) busking at Farmer's Markets/Swap Meets...the TX50DB Limo is a well-designed step up, both in volume and in features (10" woofer, XLR mic input, decent FX and better EQ on the mic channel). By plugging my Shure SM-58 in the mic channel and my Guild JF-4 and Taylor 355 into the instrument channels, I can get a very natural sound, and the built-in battery is a great idea...it really does hold up for about 6 hours w/ crystal clarity.
Just wish Crate still made the Bass Bus 50, as well...my bass playing partner wants one so bad she can't stand it, so we modified a TX50DB Limo for her (replaced the woofer w/ a heavier duty spkr.), and it works great!

I've used one for 6 years. Light, loud and versitile for killer overdrive electric and pristine acoustic applications. The DSP reverb is the best out of all my (more expensive) acoustic amps. Perfect for a one/two man show. No need to lug a whole PA around. Seperate channels for vocals and guitar or harp, etc. Or with a $2 Y cable you can use two mics or guitars through one channel. Also doubles as second speaker if used with another amp. Battery lasts forever. I once knocked the power out in the Loft Pub in Korea but the show still went on by candlelight. A must for a lone singer songwriter. Take your act to the street and the amp will pay for itself in no time. Only knock is that the plastic knobs and rubber feet break easily. But you can live with that since it sounds like buttah.

I bought this Amp a few weeks ago. I love this Amp. I took it to a gig along with my Yamaha PA. I ended up using only my Limo. I played all evening on a single charge. This thing really packs a punch for 50 watts. Everybody loved it, they was also amazed how loud it was. I found that I can also play it through the PA for even more punch, with the effects from this little amp.
I gave this 5 stars, more if I could. I can carry everything I need to put on a small show in two hands. I thinks you will be more than please, I think it will blow you away. Go and try one out, you wont be sorry.
