Hey I Found the Sound

I bought this yesterday. I have other amps (Fender, Peavey, and Crate) but could not find the "SOUND" that I was looking for to play what I call "speakeasy blues"- you know the kind with a hot muted trumpet counterlead- think Franky and Johnny- BUT I found it and it works. Good value and quality. It looks like someone stole the grillwork from a 53 chevy to put on the front of this thing- GREAT!

Its an amazing amp for the price i just got mine yesterday good for any playing style. I play mostly metal and the solo channel has some good distortion, and the rhythm has a great cruch and the clean channel shimmers if you set it just right, and the dsp effects arent bad at all, they're pretty good. The only thing I didn't like was the shaking of the amp at certain volumes but other than that I loved it. Get this amp, its amazing and great especially if on a budget.

I actually wanted a different amp at the time, because I heard it was on sale. I guess I was told wrong and I could only afford this one, but man am I proud of my decision! This amp has an awesome sound, and some cool effects (if not many) and its just fun to play! My only complaint is with the switch that comes with it, those cables dont last long if you dont take care of them.

I bought this amp in pinch needing a small amp to travel on missions trip with. I was really looking for a vox but also wanted atleast a 12in speaker. After talking to a salesmen at guitar center I was shown this amp and a Line 6. Neither brands are brands that I particuly like but I was in pinch. The Crate took me by suprise. Simple yet has enough effects that I won't use still unlike the Line 6 which was way more complex. A very handy built in tuner is great feature. Some of the effects are not so great and the foot pedal is annoying to take down and put together because of the two cables. Overall this amp is good. Plenty of power out of a small amp. Good features, nice looks. It was a good buy. Although I would still buy a vox over it.

So I've owned this Crate solid state amp for about a year now, and I have to say, I'm not completely pleased with what it has to offer. Obviously for a solid state amp, the tone color has nothing on higher end tubes, but it comes awfully close for a Crate amp at this price. At first use, it is a great amp. I love the solo channel, and it gives tons of crunch and its pretty clear. It probably would be the channel to use if you want to play metal or play any other high gain stuff. The rhythm channel is also great. Just turn the knob slightly behind half-way, and you get a great blues tone. Thats where all the positives in the amp end I'm afraid. The clean channel sounds terrible, no matter what guitar you have, nothing really cuts through, and it all sounds pretty tinny. The effects are terrible! Flanger, wah, delay, etc are very weak and you can't make it do what you want. On top of that, even without effects, theres this reverb that pervades the amp tone no matter what channel your on. Ill play a chord, then mute the strings, and there will be a split second delay that gets on my nerves. Overall, its mostly good for its rhythm and solo channels, and one of the best amps for its price, and the best Crate solid state amp to date.
