I bought this thing and plugged it up as soon as it got here. i started out at low volumes and right off the bat found a good high gain tone. but as i cranked it up i noticed the sound started changing. so i tweaked the eq a little to get it back the way i wanted. i turned it up even more and the sound changed even more. when i got to full volume all i thought was.. Thats it? wasnt as loud as i expected. granted this is my first solid state head but still.. and also when it get past the 3 o clock position when you stop playing you get a really loud screetch and tons of feedback. You also will hear a really loud buzz around those volumes its really annoying. So if your wanting a good practice amp this is it. but anything more and i recommend a good old tube head.

yea so ive had this head when i first started playing guitar i had had no idea about good tone. well after a few years later i have a peavey classic 50 and a peavey valve king now. all i got to say is tube amps blow this thing out of the water. I mean you can't expect to play in a band with this solid state head it murders the bass players tone and all you can basically hear of your self is loud nasty fuzz(crate's distorition). I mean just save a hundred more bucks or so and get a valve king or you can check on craigslist for peavey ultra 120 heads theyre killer too

I got this amp in April of 2009 and it was a pretty sweet amp. You must know that the knobs on the overdrive channel DO affect the tone on the high gain channel (channel 3). This amp sounds amazing on the high gain if you want a very good present metal sound. However, until i started having problems with it. The high knob on the overdrive channel started fading out. I had to push it and pull it in order for it to kick in. once that went, the volume on the clean channel went as well. completely faded...... and to top it all off, my distortion completely faded as well. i still have a decent amount but not for playing lamb of god and other current metal. i play in drop C with my band and it can not handle that let alone drop D. Before the problems, amazing sounding amp! Its a good thing it comes with a 5 year warranty. I will hopefully be getting a new one shipped out to me ASAP.

I got this head to play in a band with a couple of friends. My other guitarists has it and i played through his a lot before i made my decision, I needed something quick and money saving. It sounds amazing. The overdrive is absolutely beautiful. And for all the reviews saying you can't get the flanger noise to go away, you have to know how to work it, if the settings are set right, it will sound perfect. Just play around with it. I would definately recommend this.
