Flatpicking Guitar

I bought this amp about a year ago and use it at least once a week. I play older country and bluegrass (flatpicking). I use it with a martin HD-28 and D-28 and is sounds awsome. I also use a fishman pre-amp with it sometimes. So my opinion is it's the perfect amp for what I do and sounds great.

Best Acoustic Amp on the market

I've owned a Crate 125D since around 1990. Since then I've tried every Acoustic amp on the market. The only two that come close are the Fender series Acousti-Sonics and the Bose personal performer Series. When you compare the prices of both you'll easily find this to be the best value...

This Amp is the Best You Can Get for the money. The features are wonderful the Effects are great. It produces tone from the warmest lows to crisp Highs to top it off nicely. I've been playing this unit on stage 4 days a week for a year, and it sound perfect everytime I turn it on. If you can't get a good sound out of this amp, its probably time to get a new guitar. I recommend this amp to anyone looking for a great amp at a very reasonable price.

Does not sound good

Bought this amp to go with my Takamine. On paper this amp seemed to have the most power, best features and best sound control. But once it arrived I was very very disappointed with the sound quality. I tweaked it every way possible, and it just does not sound good. Very muddy and dull, even with effects. I plugged into my friend's Fender acoustasonic which has much less control over the sound, but it sounded much much better. You don't need as much control over the sound when it sounds great to begin with. In summary, this amp has great features for the money, but that's no excuse for bad sound quality. Buy a fender acoustasonic. I'm going to return this one.

Mostly Dependable - Great Value

I bought this bad boy when I was starting out because I couldn't afford the Fender or Marshall equivalents but still wanted the solid quality and sound. It's been three years now and I have been seldom let down. Besides the standard issues that all acoustic amps face, of feedback if you're not careful, this guy also is a bit touchy about his effects. If the pedal isn't plugged in it decides to turn the effects on, and my indicator lights randomly turn off. I wouldn't mind plugging in the pedal if I used the options but the effects are weak and sub-par. Alternatively I have been using a semi-acoustic through it, as well as a number of Boss distortion effects, and despite the fact it is an acoustic amp it holds up decently to this unconventional set up. This machine is also very powerful. I often use it in large rooms unmic'd and rarely turn it past 11 o'clock. To sum up my long comment, this is a great amp for just an acoustic, and it travels well, and is very powerful. I do, in fact, recommend it.
