I recently found myself in need of a classical guitar. Having 25 years of experience buying and playing guitars I decided since I am intending to become a serious classical guitarist I wasn't going to go cheap I am just always disappointed when I do. So I took a chance did a little research and decided this was the nicest classical guitar in my price range. Since then I have had a chance to play a couple real custom made classical guitars and I found this Cordoba to be no different than the 12 thousand dollar custom guitar my instructor had made. To put it simply this guitar came to me practically flawless the wood is gorgeous the sound is just as nice as any I have heard and better than most and the Humicase fits perfectly. Thank you Cordoba. I couldn't be more happy with this guitar its fantastic.

Need Small Adjustments

I just received the Cordoba Koa CE Classical Acoustic-Electric Guitar. I like the "look" and for a thinner body it feels close to a traditional classical guitar. I replaced the strings immediately with a higher gage, which has given more punch to its sound. It is sad to say that the company could used bone for the saddle, instead of plastic. After replacing the sound improved substantially. I am hoping to replace the nut with as well. The guitar plays soft and easy. If you are looking for a second instrument for fun or small performances this guitar should be okay. If you are a professional looking to play standard classical repertoire, you might want to consider a higher level instrument. I believe the sound will open with time and it will project a bit more.

Well, overall it has a nice soft tone that carries pretty nicely. It has a few buffing and finishing issues. I've noticed this also in my Cordoba Solista Flamenco as well. Nothing that a drop fill with laquer can't fix. I figure it's b/c of the humidity and climate change when it was shipped from spain/portugual to the southern us. Overall this guitar is great for students and for professionals with low expecations on appearance.

What about the inside?

I was excited to find the box on my porch. Opening it, the first thing was a beautiful case. Inside, the guitar was just gorgeous, blond streak down the center, ebony fret board, the rosette - wow, the wood binding and purfling are well done and beautiful. The B Band electrics are the way to go. All the other undersaddle pickups and over-large preamps can't compare. Amped, the sound is rich, not plinky like other piezos. Playability is okay. I like the frets but they are not smoothed on the edges, and can tear up your fingers on slides, and the action is a little high. Still, no buzz, good neck, not bad. Looking inside killed the deal for me and I will be sending it back. The kerfing is very thin flat wood. No sawn strips to hold the back to the sides. And around one inside curve, on the small bout, the strip was over stressed and breaking on the outside. The verticle braces on the sides are like scrap wood, uneven pieces, poorly joined. The glue is, can this be true, sure looks like hot-glue leaking out of all the braces. Hand made, by whom? And so, unamped, this guitar is soft spoken, humble and dull. I will keep looking for a guitar in this price range that sounds good both amped and unamped. In the end looks are only a luxury. If you want a gorgeous, poorly put together, dull voiced guitar -- this is your baby. I'm waiting for the Alvarez Masterworks classicals . Wish it had the great B Band electronics, instead of that giant pre-amp. Is there nobody who puts it all together in this price range?

I've very satisfied with the guitar. its a beautiful guitar, sounds great, feels nice. my only comment regarding possible improvements would be the intonation. It could be slightly better.
