NOT BAD

Ive been looking for an OD pedal for a while and saw this as the Stupid Deal of the Day so I thought I would try it. Im impressed. Built tough, looks cool and sounds like what I was looking for. More gain than the SD1 and ZW-44 and sounds better to. I use it to boost my Traynor YCV50 and it works great. If you are looking for high gain distortion then you probably dont want this, but if you need OD or a boost check it out. Get it while its on sale though cause its not worth the regular sale price!

Great for OD/Boost

A lot of people complain about this pedal being noisy but it really isn't if you use it properly. When using it with a clean amp the pedal can act as a wonderful boost (it isn't a perfectly clean boost, it adds a bit of grit) or it can act as a pretty nasty OD depending on how much gain you dial in. If you prefer playing with a ton of gain than this pedal WILL be noisy when turned on. From my experience, if you're using this for rock & roll, blues and reggae its a surefire way to boost your solos and add a wide range of overdrive when needed.

Great value for any money...

I bought this pedal at the Stupid Deal Of The Day..Looked like a good value for the money... I use a real 1963 Strat with old EMG-SA's+SPC control through a new Fender Vibrolux Reverb Amp..Was pleasantly surprised to hear this pedal.. It is NOT a distortion pedal.. Sounds more like a real good modded Tubescreamer.. Has a smooth bottom end and smooth overdrive tone... The chip inside is NOT a JRC4558D like most of the good Tubescreamers...This chip is much smaller and has no writing on it.. The circuit board says it was made by Dunlop..The folks who make MXR stuff...Well made pedal with easy battery access door on bottom...At loud volumes like I play it sounded a little bit like a Klon...Fatter than a TS9 or Sparkle Drive and not as in your face.. Not as versatle as the Blue Boy or Crunch Box, and not as touch sensitive as the Box Of Rock... I had the Volume about 11:00 / Tone about 12:00 / Gain about 1:00... When playing at home it sounded very typical, but out on a LOUD live gig it cuts through very smoothly...Maybe like a Klon with a modern high end.. Overall it's a really good sounding pedal and looks real cool to boot... I've played through some of the best equipment money can buy so I feel like I am qualified to make this judgement... You can't go wrong at the price... RS

Looks good, good construction. Adds more than normal Distortion/overdrive pedal noise (hiss) when kicked on. Has some unique overdrive tones, but doesnt add a lot of "Distortion". To me it's Not Gig worthy due to added Noise floor!!!

Looks cool, not worth it

This pedal looks bad ass. It does NOT sound as good as it looks, I thought it would have loads of power but I was wrong. It can get a good classic rock or bluesy tone if you turn it on while using a clean channel.

I tried using it just for a boost for leads like everyone says to, but all I got was a LOT of feedback.

The pedal is great for some mellow blues stuff, gives it a little crunch I suppose. But it's not worth 120 dollars at all. You can get better, if you love the look and wanna try it go for it, I only got it because it looked metal and John 5 played it.
