Based on the infamous Delayla, the Carl Martin Red Repeat Guitar Effects Pedal provides an affordable 600 milliseconds of delay as well as a simply controlled echo. Add just a touch of delay to thicken your sound, or push the echo circuit past 12 o'clock where the unit begins to self-oscillate, just like an old analog delay. Great vintage style and color in a heavy die-cast 9V pedal with heavy duty bypass switching.

Carl Martin Red Repeat Guitar Effects Pedal Features:

Great analog-sounding digital delay. Since it's digital, there's no noise, and with the tone knob you can get analog type sounds. I have had a lot of delays over the years. When you compare this with everything else at this price point, it has got to be the hands down winner. It's not boutique sexy and it's not the next big thing like the CC. It's just a great sounding delay.

First off it's not true bypass. I can hear the delays in bypass, very faint but they are there; even in bedroom levels! and if you set the feedback high you can hear it easily. beware of the high feedback settings. volume goes insanely high with this.

That being said, it's not a horrid pedal. It's a decent little analog delay simulator, don't forget it's digital. I love the tone knob can give you some lo-fi taste in higher settings. but the whole thing lacks bite.

Delay times are very limited as slap-back goes. 30ms is clearly not a narrow slapback. 600ms would be enough for a lot of people though.

The design isn't the brightest one either. Knobs are really close to the switch. Get it for simple delay apps. nothing fancy, nothing serious.

Rockabilly Required

I love the Red Repeat for use in creating an awesome clean vintage Rockabilly echo/slapback sound a la Cliff Gallup, Rev. Horton Heat, etc.

The box is well-made, quiet and looks cool too.

Plus, the price is hard to beat in comparison to real tape echo machines and rack units which are in the $1000 range.

This is a great pedal for all of you rockabilly rebels as well as any one who wants to add some deeply cool echo/repeat tones to your sound.

Get it!

I like this pedal. It gives a very reasonable simulation of a True Analog pedal, the Tone knob helps you get those "dark" tape like diminishing repeats. 600ms is sufficient for most people who desire an alalog type delay sound. I've had it about a month now and am happy with it, as I use very little delay, and it doesn't cost 3 to 5 hundred that you would have to shell out for the real deal. If you are extremely particular about your delay, and insist your delay sound absolutely analog, this probably isn't the pedal for you. You will have to spend the Big bucks for a Maxon AD-999, Pigtronix, etc..etc..but if you can live with a very good digital imitation of a true analog pedal, this one is very good for what it was designed for.
