Bugera captures old-school amp musicality in their V55HD amp head, whose modern touches put a wider palette of vintage voicings at your fingertips. With a proud pair of 6L6 power tubes in the output stage, the Bugera V55HD bathes your guitar in clean California sunshine. Let's go trippin'.

Bugera went to great lengths to give this tube amp head the ability to deliver everything those dusty relics of the rock revolution did—minus the collector-sized price tags. But this labor of love was taken one step farther to give you maximum tonal possibilities in true Bugera fashion.

Amps once came in two varieties: those with triode (having three active electrodes) power tubes and those with pentode (containing five active electrodes) power tubes. Triode tubes, which predated the pentodes, provide what many guitarists agree is a "softer" tone. Pentodes produce a slightly more urgent, aggressive sound. The V55HD runs on power pentode tubes, but includes a Mode switch that lets you run the power section as if it had triode tubes—that is, at about 40 percent less power. This gives you the option of going beyond old-school—straight to elderly school.

The old amps that defined electric guitar tone were often single-channel amps. This Bugera V55HD tube amp offers that same vintage clean, but add a second channel for modern high-gain tones. To begin, take your pick of the Bright or Normal inputs, then twist the three-band EQ (Bass, Mid, Treble) and Presence control to sculpt your signature sound. Depending on which channel you choose, three 12AX7 preamp tubes take your tone anywhere from dignified blues to garage-leveling madness.

The Bugera V55HD's power stage's dual 6L6 tubes propel this tone. The head has an impedance switch that toggles between 4, 8 and 16 ohms, making them compatible with virtually any speaker cabinet. These amps also have reverb, but in the interest of tone and durability, their reverb is derived from a studio-caliber digital processor. The spring reverb found in their post-war predecessors sound lovely, but they're delicate and expensive to repair. The V55HD's modern update gives you an equally mesmerizing vintage reverb sound without the wallet-draining vintage reliability. And if all these features weren't enough, you also get a road-tough footswitch that allows you to select channels and activate/kill the reverb remotely.

When I received it, the clean channel sounded distorted. After a week, it started making a sizzling sound like tubes frying. I returned it. It wasn't a bad sounding amp, but if the quality is an issue I don't need it. I won't be buying anymore Bugera...Berringer stuff anymore.

I own the Egnater 20 and Jet City and Fender as well and this Head is different. The clean channel is excellent and very thump oriented. The lead channel is crunchy and old school. Takes to pedals very well to modify the excellent clean channel so you have tones galore. Reverb is good but not Fender. The break up is very nice with volume on the clean channel and the Master allows you to do that without breaking windows. As with a number of these price point heads, new tubes really make the difference and a set of EL-34's change the character greatly. Sovtek or Tungsol 12 AX-7's make a difference in the lead channel as well as the gain response is better and more defined. Have to love this package and the footswitch is top notch.

This is a Boutique amp at a bargain price!

If you love vintage tube amp tones in the Fender vein, but with more pressence and that extra flair of a boutique amp, you will love the V55HD. The Clean channel is clear and bright with just a hint of breakup when you run it loud and hot, and the Distortion channel gives you that "Old School" rock tone so missing from solid state amps. If you need more aggressive distortion/overdriven tones, the amp responds incredibly well to pedals, without losing the characteristics that make you glad you bought it in the first place. Cosmetically, it is a well made beauty with its two tone color scheme, and sparkling piping. Do yourself a favor, and buy either the matching Two 12 cab or the Bugera 412 cab, as both of them compliment the aesthetic appeal of the head. At this price you might want to buy two of them!

My main amp is a Fender Hot Rod Deville but i have been having major issues with it so i decided to try Bugera due to the price. I am glad I did. Not only does the clean and dirty channels sound great, It accepts my pedal board extremely well. This now is my main amp. I am not spending a boat load of money on tube amps that fail when I can get better results with this monster!!!! Don't think twice when considering this amp. It's worth 10 times the money you pay for it.

Ive been struggling for years to find an amp for home that was affordable and could take well to various pedals and guitars. This amp has ended that search without a doubt, without any pedals this amp has a very pleasing amount of tones available from nice warm cleans with beautiful reverb to edgy rock tones. And when I put pedals into the mix it only gets better, by cranking the gain to 9 and putting an overdrive pedal infront of it with only a generous amount of gain I can get crushing metal tones that are very satisfying.
