a great amp for the price

I bought this amp a while back when I was at a local guitar shop and heard it being played. I imediately thought, "they sell marshall here?" I was amazed when I realized that it was a Bugera that I heard, not a marshall. This amp sounds incredibly close to a jcm 900 or even a jcm2000 and the price tag is even more of a shocker. I know that these amps have a reputation of suddenly shutting off and coming back on, but the amp is easily worth a shot. I have dealt with this problem on my 333xl and the answer to it is a $40 fix at any capable amp tech. It is caused by a little plastic gator clip (like those in computers) connecting the transformer to the PCB. all that has to be done is to simply remove the clip and solder the wires to the board and the amp is as good as any. It may need a quick fix to start out with but the overall result is completely worth the inconvenience when you turn it on are as blown away as I was at the tone you get. On a side not, do not buy a bugera cab for this as they do not do this amp due justice. buy something nice with the money you saved on the head.

Never Lets Me Down

Bought this about 4 months ago at Guitar Center. Could not believe the very modest cost. However, I played this head and thought I was listening to a hybrid of a JCM 900 and a JCM 2000. Now, 4 months later and lots of use, it has never let me down. Also, it has tremendous versatility and killer tone. Take it from a really nice clean with a nice sounding reverb, to Clapton blues, visit the tones of Zeppelin and AC/DC and beyond to super saturated bliss. Dont know why others have had problems but so far I am blessed with a tube head that will more than hold it's own. Also, the fx loop sounds great. Not so easy to find a high gain amp that likes pedals so much. Still cannot believe the high value to cost ratio!

Have mine now for 3 months and bought it from Guitar Center. Have been playing it almost every day and it it sounds great. Love the distortion channel - it's real brutal but still very well defined.
I can only recommend it. My 2 cents...

Could have been a killer amp

I pre ordered this amp and anticipated its arrival after watching the product compared to a marshall JCM900 on the Bugera website. It was close in most aspects but not exact. I was impressed so I waited to get my hands on one. When it arrived I began putting it through its paces with everything I could throw at it. The clean channel was crisp at low gain and easily overdriven by turning up the clean gain to achieve a solid crunch. The lead channel took it from there up to a super sonic blistering sustain. I compared it to two very decent solid state heads and it blew them both away easily, in every nuance. At this point I was very satisfied that I made a great purchase. Then it happened, just as the other guy mentioned on his review; after almost an hour of tube amp bliss I got a horrible, slow, oscillating, buzzing sound and no music. It The signal shut off and the light on the channel switch turned off. It did come back on and I played it about 1 minute till it did the same thing. I did this a few times and it always came back on just to quit again. I thought I might have just got a lemon and was just going to exchange it and it was once again back ordered. Now as I read that someone else had the same problem I have cancelled my order. All I can say is that I am very dissapointed in the amp that could have broke the price/value barrier between solid state and hot valve amps. I Loved this amp for almost an hour but I would not recomend it to anyone on the basis that It has an obvious design flaw. As an active musician on a budget I need equipment that is dependable. Looks like I will have to hold off and keep my trusty not so well designed Peavey that just never quits.

I bought this amp new. Played it for one hour before it shut down. Made a buzzing noise and shut off. It comes back on but shuts off about every 3 minutes. Sounds great when it works. Has good features. Easy tube replacement and re-biasing. Effects loop with input control. Selectable impedence. Could have given the each channel it's own EQ but I suppose it doesn't matter if it doesn't work. I don't recommend buying this product. I am returning mine ASAP.
