The Superdrive Series II 18 head is designed for the clubs and project studio. This lightweight two-channel EL-84 driven amp offers sparkling rhythm complexity with super sensitive hi gain articulation. The jewel in this amp is apparent when the power section heats up and the dual 84's are being pushed to the point of no return. There something to be said about getting the power tubes to act like a preamp cranked where the sag of the circuit is creamy and the hang time on the note is forever at your fingertip. The Superdrive 18 is voiced for modern vintage styles of music.

Killer Tone for live and studio

I have owned this head for about two years and was on a mission to buy great rock tone at any price, this is the answer. I own many premium amps and this is the one that my audience and fellow musicians slobber over. At an out door venue the sound man was complaining that I was too loud with him 150 feet away, no reason to worry about volume, this is louder than my british tube 50 watt head. One respected musician that has heard me play live for over 20 years stated after seeing one of our shows that this was the best sound he had heard and to never give up the amp. I like it best to push the clean channel very hard for a great organic tone that can be cleaned up with the volume knob but the drive channel is all butter with the smoothest breakup of all. If your looking for metal, I dont know if this is your amp but the lows are very punchy but may mud up when pushed to the insane shred level and high volume.

The amp gives great tone with either single coils of humbuckers. Good for classic rock, blues, progressive rock and jazz. I can nail that sweet Derek Trucks tone with this amp or get a great high gain tone like Bonamassa.

One complaint ohm options are 4 and 8. Sure wish there were a 16 on the switch.

Customer service is the best in the industry.

Got this for the studio - waited a long time to get it. First off the eq is soo minimal I thought it was broken. Second it is so incredibly noisy I could only use it for clean sounds (even after swapping the tubes several times). The tone was marginally good at best. Took a bath when I sold it - what a disappointment

I pretty much played ever amp in this price range and nothing even came close to this head. I plugged in and played a few riffs and chords and was blown away. I then went right over and played a JCM2000 and the budda made the JCM sound like a cheap crate amp. Best amp for the money hands down.
