Fantastic amp

I paired this amp up with a engl 4 by 12 with vintage 30's. I went for the big cab over a 2 by 12 because I thought I'd need a little extra in the volume department. This amp is extremely loud. Don't let the thirty watts fool you. This rig smokes my lead guitarists 100 watt Marshall half stack. If you like the voicing of this amp the thirty watts is ample. I love to play loud and half volume is all I can handle. The other thing that surprised me about this amp is how much gain the drive channel has. It sounds incredible and past 12 o'clock it just gets ridiculous. With that being said I've really fallen in love with the rhythm channel which kind of surprises me because I usually stick to the dirty high gain stuff. It really breaks up nicely when you have the rhythm volume up. I keep the two channels a little on the dirty side and just roll back the volume on my guitar to clean it up when I want to. I've had this head for two months now and I've found the other reviews to be dead on and over all this is still more amp than I was expecting.

Wow, what a great amp. if you want a blues/rock amp that sounds like a deeper "Plexi" on the drive shannel and an "AC30" on the clean channel - I would highly recommend this amp that is bound to be a collectors item. I've also managed to get a great jazz sound out of it with the right guitar and speakers for jazz hooked to it. For this kind of sound, the price can't be beat even though it is a lot of cash - it's still a big value when you concider what competition this amp will blow away. I played more expensive heads but, this one is my favorite! AND - it's made in AMERICA! Also, the guys at BUDDA have been awesome - not afraid to communicate at all and have made some great suggestions to help improve my sound...

Best EL84 head I've played

I have a nice collection of amps (Two Rock, Top Hat, etc.) but the Budda is by far my favorite. It's the only amp I've played that can go from a clean that rivals a Vox AC30 to overdrive that is richer but just as nasty as a vintage Marshall. There aren't many amps where you can go from a U2 clean to a Jeff Beck singing overdrive in one box. The shared EQ takes a point off of features, but really isn't a problem in execution--it's easy in my experience to get EQ settings that work well for both channels. I like to run the clean channel with the treble boost on for AC30 character, which enables me to have a less biting overdrive sound since the boost doesn't affect the drive channel. If you back off the boost and keep the rhythm volume down, you can get warm jazz sounds with a hollowbody guitar. (I keep the rhythm channel at about 9 o'clock, which is way down, to keep the rhythm channel cleaner and enable a volume boost when I switch to overdrive since I keep the drive control at about 9:30; you can get a VanHalen brown sound if you go higher with the drive control but I prefer having more control/flexibility for general usage on the drive channel).

Yes, it would be nice if it had reverb, but with a delay pedal in the effects loop (which is excellent) you're good to go. The amp is extremely loud--I usually run it with an attenuator, and that's at only 1/3 volume or less.

Budda amps are really, really good. They look a little goofy, but that just makes them an ever better secret weapon as other guitarists buy sexier looking amps that don't sound as good.

Best amp around for classic style and blues-based rock n roll. Had a Bogner Shiva before this, was going to get another one but got this on a friend's recommendation. Glad I did! My favorite amp of all time!
