This pedal is so versatile in its own right...you can go from that nice classic rock crunch to the deep grinding chunk of death metal. Excellent pedal for any style using distortion...it's easy to figure out, affordable, durable (you can shoot this with a desert eagle and it'll still function!) no tone loss, and it's amazingly quiet for a distortion pedal.. Although I am going to slap a noise gate on the line just for safe measures, I have some more pedals coming in so I see it as an essential... I recommend this to anyone who is in need of good distortion, dont listen to any bad reviews of this product....it's a boss, no need to say anymore, just buy it man!

I got this pedal as a christmas gift a few years back and even with my little 30 watt practice amp I destroyed all up and down the frett board and got the best metal tone I have ever heard I have never played another metal pedal as good as this one if u got the money buy it!

I've played metal for more than 10 years. this pedal has been in my arsenal the whole trip. never had one problem with its construction, nor its performance.

this pedal is very dependant on gear, imho. small speakers and combos typically disagree with this pedal.

now, i have a marshall half stack (solid state) and a gibson LP axcess. i also run the boss GE-7 equalizer after this in my line, scooping mid and boosting low and high. with my setup, id say its comparable to metallica or megadeth in their heydays (master or puppets/justice, or rust in piece/countdown to extinction).

I just bought this pedal. I went from a MODELER to now going through VOX AD50VT and it sounds amazing. I do notice that with a HUMBUCKER it sounds amazing while the SINGLE COIL Strat it sounds a but thin, but you are going to get that with most single coils. The different tones you get from this pedal is so worth the price. BOSS makes top notch stuff for sure

I have had this pedal for about six years now and letme tell u that this is still my main distortion pedal for all of these years. It has a great clean tone that is perfect for any rock sound not just metal.
