Great

I really love this pedal. I really nails the high gain crunch of both 80's metal along with a lot of modern high gain sounds. I tend to keep the settings at about 12 o'clock, so there is still plenty of room to play with scoop/bump of mids, boost on gain, etc. It is not very transparent, in that it produces gain and a tight low-end that is not present in my amp, but that is a good thing in this case. the point being that I can't get this hi-gain sound with my amp, thus I bought a good hi-gain pedal. I also have a Line 6 UberMetal, but I don't like it as much, as it is VERY scoopy, but others may prefer that.

Good pedal, just very limited.

I baught this a few years ago ('05), and one of the strengths of this pedal is its midrange. If dialed properly, you can get a nice early Metallica tone (that tight chop with tons of sustain). It's not very versital though, the top end is very fizzy and it really doesn't sound good without that mid sweet spot. Overall, a one trick pony, but at least decent sounding.

My Friend has this pedal and I have used it on several occasions and I cant stand it! It has no low end at all!! and the high end is just this really annoying twang all of the time its so bad!! I have a digitech metal master and im getting the digitech TL-2 and they both blow this pedal out of the water and even if you still want to get a boss go with a metal core or even better a mega distortion and leave this peice of junk out of you life.

Great Pedal - Limited Purpose

This pedal does exactly what it says it does - it puts you in the "zone for metal", and that's about it. If you are looking for classic, subdued to mild distortion or overdrive, this is not your pedal. If you are looking for a range of "heavy" to "metal heavy", then this is for you. It is better than the "Metal Core" and is much harder in tone as well. Harmonics scream and power cords sing for weeks at a time. There is only one purpose for this pedal, but it does it better than anything else I have tried.

From Classic rock to Death Metal...Great Pedal!

This pedal is so versatile in its own right...you can go from that nice classic rock crunch to the deep grinding chunk of death metal. Excellent pedal for any style using distortion...it's easy to figure out, affordable, durable (you can shoot this with a desert eagle and it'll still function!) no tone loss, and it's amazingly quiet for a distortion pedal.. Although I am going to slap a noise gate on the line just for safe measures, I have some more pedals coming in so I see it as an essential... I recommend this to anyone who is in need of good distortion, dont listen to any bad reviews of this product....it's a boss, no need to say anymore, just buy it man!
