An expansive pedalboard's worth of BOSS effects in one versatile unit. |
It's one thing to have a sprawling pedalboard with every effect pedal you'd ever need, but if one pedal can give you awesome, versatile tone and portability, look no further than the BOSS ME-70. Consolidating over 40 great BOSS effects into a single floor-based multi-effects unit, the ME-70 pedal has no confusing menus or displays to sift through—it was designed to be just as easy to use as a collection of stompboxes. Organized into logical groups, these Boss effects are dialed in with dedicated front-panel knobs. All these guitar effects are housed in Boss's distinctive rock-solid, all-metal chassis, and it runs on either AC power or batteries for maximum portability.
The Effects
The BOSS ME-70 has 8 different effects groups, and all of them can be used independently or simultaneously. Once you dial up your effect type and customize it on the front panel, you can even save your settings for each effect type.
Manual and Memory
The BOSS ME-70 pedal has 2 operating modes: Manual and Memory. In Manual mode the effects function like a floor full of stompboxes; all adjustable on the fly. Its 4 dedicated footswitches allow you to turn the essential effects groups on and off. Once you've got your sound where you want it, Memory mode lets you save the setup as a patch for instant recall. You can save up to 36, and the ME-70 comes with 36 presets to get you started. In Memory mode, the 4 main footswitches let you switch patches and banks with ease.

The real deal for gigging musicians

I originally bought this to simplify & compact my FX pedalboard and make it more reliable by eliminating patch cables. The ME-70 accomplished this instantly in my DeVille's FX loop, giving me every option I could want in stompbox mode. I eventually saved my favorite combinations as user patches and it went into my working gig rig. Modulations, EQ, boosts...all BOSS quality that sound good live and gets the tones I want. Although I primarily use it with my favorite OD and amp, I have recently experimented with the ME-70s preamp selections and it now serves as a standalone backup in case of emergency. My entire rig could die and I'd just run it to the PA. The show must go on! It's tough as nails. It's extremely versatile. You might be able to spend way more and find better souunding effects for the studio, but that's lost in most live setttings...this box sounds great, and eliminates the weaknesses/variablity of an FX chain...exactly what you need for live shows. Invest the time to learn how to use it, and your rig will be consistant and reliable every time you use it.

good for a while

a fairly good pedal with the ability to manufacture your own sounds and save them as a preset you would think this pedal is good for gigging mmm not sure anymore its too easy to hit the wrong pedal and really mess your sound up
on the pluss there are a lot of sounds to mess around with but its fun for a while there is limitations there isn't a lot you can do with them
as it sounds through head phones and recording sounds cruddy through the better the equipment it goes through the worse it gets but this can be improved by spending some time equalising
overall if your looking for something for home practicing and smaller gigs then its a strong contender

I have tryed many and i do mean many pedals over the lst 30 plus years of playing and yhis by far has the most true to life sound, the money you save on all the pedals you get with this unit is worth its weight in gold the delay is the best i have evr used. And the Modulation section is great all the sounds are great and very adjustable to your sound stop waisting your time and get you one.

REALLY NICE!

I bought this guy because I really liked the simplicity of it and I don't need allot of the stuff that comes in other more expensive units. I put this guy in front of my Mesa Boogie Mark V and it plays very well with that amp. I use it strictly in stomp box mode, but there are some nice presets. The Compressor is surprisingly good. I use the OD-1 setting for a lead boost, it works really nice. The modulations and delays are all pretty good and usable. The expression pedal is excellent, I love being able to control the modulation and delays with it. The whammy is a fun little tool to play with too! By far what I love best is the ability to plug phones into this along with my iPod and having the ability to play late at night after the family gas gone to sleep. It's built very well, what you would expect from Boss. I actually kept this over my old T.C. Electronics Nova System, I prefer the knobs of the ME-70 to the more complex menu-driven Nova. Overall, this a great unit at this price point.

When i paired my Ibanez GRG220DEX with my new Boss ME 70 my guitar sounded like a thousand dollar guitar! I can create a patch in seconds everything is easy except changing from one bank to another. Now i have to buy Boss FS-6 to solve this problem..
