First of all, gotta love the compact size this pedal has, you could fit it in a backpack without a problem. Sturdy! I personally think this has a lot of the essentials of a multi effects. People have said in reviews that this sounds bad and that sounds bad on the pedal: totally wrong!!! The best way to get the best sound out of this pedal is to connect it to your amp properly. DO NOT GO FROM AMP INPUT TO YOUR PEDAL, THEN FROM PEDAL TO GUITAR, THAT FAILS!! I read from a review on a different Boss product that this guy was going from the Effects Return (if your amp has a connection in the back) -> Mono Output of pedal -> Input of pedal -> guitar. Trust me it's the only way for true true true sound! Connecting it this way will bypass your amp's onboard EQ's and volumes. It's basically using pure speaker and the effects pedal acts as the controller of all the tones, without any influence/changes from the amp settings. I think a lot of onboard amp EQs can mislead your sound when you try certain effects, like distortions especially. The metal distortions are quite insane! Even if you don't access one of them in batches, the EZ mode has some real real nice distortions. The rotary is nuts as well, sounds incredibly nice and always Boss quality. I recently downgraded from a more complicated Boss multi effects pedal, and I will never go back to something that complicated. Simplicity is the way to go!

If you want to have a really great range of quality FX for not alot of money, buy this thing now. its built to last a nuclear war. i bought this pedal last year and have used it everyday just for jaming and for worship services at my church. i can't live without this thing. Digitech multis boast tons and tons of presets and fx, but this thing is really all you need. it sounds great, is super easy to use and at 200 bucks, you can't beat it. i only have 2 complaints. first, no tap tempo. this really isn't a big deal just do the math and turn the knob, but you had better have it set up before showtime. second, the volume pedal is great but the wah is really choppy and i was not impressed. other than that, this thing can't be beat. be sure to buy the power adapter and the footswitch cause they come in real handy.

As Good As They Come

Yes individual stomp boxes are better, but this is the most convient peice of equipment I have own. In my opinion the distortions on here are better than most pedals I have own. The Fuzz is great replica of British Invasion Fuzz. The Metal is just that, Metal. My favorite is the regular Distortion it has so much crunch and gain just makes my mouth water. This also nice assortment of modulation; including chorus, phaser, flanger, tremelo, and rotary. The delay's are nice but they are quite as sweet as analog delay which always sound better but its nice. The reverb is great you can go from a wee bit reverb to sounds like your playing in the big tiled room in the world. Almosth etheryal. This also comes with a much underrated threshold which is nice for us strat players who don't want that instant feedback. The biggest feature I enjoy though has to be the simple fact you can plug headphones and still have great quality sound, and not have to wake the neighbors since most of us guitar players are nocturnal. The only real downside is it can be a bit difficult to fine tune effects as well as sound combinations. For exmample I have not quite figured out how to have more than one modulation effect at a time. I only have had this for a little while but in a pinch this is the best pedal money can buy. If your an amateur guitar player and want a new stomp box save your money just a bit and invest in this baby!

Great pedal, confusing interface

My Christmas present to myself for 2008. Absolutely amazing effects pedal; the sounds you can get out of this are virtually limitless. Has more features than you could ask for, and even a built in tuner. My only big complaint is that it's so confusing to use. I really wish they made a nicer display, or atleast an overall more easy-to-use interface. Once you figure this out, though, you'll love it.
