I got this pedal based on what the product description states it's for and what it’s capable of doing. Does it take low end to the extreme? Yes, but it's muffled and dull sounding. You can't hardly get any bright tone from it at all to go along with the low end. I also own the Boss MT-2, and it’s a hundred times better than this. It's much more versatile, and provides some killer crunchy distortion. I highly recommend getting the MT-2 over this one. At least go try them out at your local store first so you can hear the difference.

This distortion box is like a dual gain knob, high gain tube-like amp on the extreme factor.You can get from a traditional overdriven amp to a balls to the wall; nu metal death metal screaming riffs.The EQ knobs are simple(tone and bottom), tone sharpens or milds the treble frequency,and the bottom adjusts the bass.Lastly the two distortion knobs(distortion and gain boost), the distortion is...duh you know already but the gain boost pushes the given distortion to the extreme pending on how far turned.ONLY problem, high distortion causes a loud signal noise so buy a NS-2 if you don't want that. Try a MD-2 at a store or friend first before ordering.

I am a pedal guy, who tries to find distortion tones that sound like pro amp heads. Well this pedal was the answer to my prayer. I use this pedal for sounds like Green Day, and sounds great. The audio samples from Boss.com make it sound mushy, and damp. But if you use it right, this pedal will end your search for the right tone.

Ok, to describe this pedal's sound: Imagine that a DS-1 and a Metal Zone had a one night stand. This Md-2 would be thier love child. It has the best of both pedals. The grit and versitile sound of the ds-1, the power and low end of the metal zone, without the nasely "metal" sound. The only reason I gave it a 4.0 in features is because it can tend to be just a tad bit muddy. But if you have a quality tube amp a few EQ adjustments and your good. Power chords sound AMAZING, palm mutes have a brutal chunk, and single notes ring with sustain. I LOOOOOOOVE this pedal. Check it out!
