Bring me to life

Bought this thing used and run it through a Marshall Dual Super Lead half stack. The amp doesn't jump out to me as being anything spectacular, but when I ran this pedal through it there was suddenly depth and thickness that simply was not there before. Only problem being that it is VERY noisey, but it isn't an issue because I run it through a noise supressor. I would have liked to have more than seven bands to work with, but for the rice it is great.

I purchased my GE-7 about 5 years ago to use in my setup. I play it next to a Zoom effects pedal as an enhancer and it has never let me down since. Its great as a preamp for when I have to use crappy amps. it saved me in many gigs. Oh did I mention I bought mine second-hand. The former ownder mustve had for more years I had it. The only downside is I keep losing those white switch covers so mine really looks roughed up now. But its still my workhorse and It will stay in my setup for more years to come!gotta love boss!

OVER TWENTY YEARS NOW....

...and the pedal is still walkin' the DAWG!
If the amp I was using was kinda dark (like my 65 BANDIT PEAVEY) the pedal was used to brighten it up for that "Fenderish" country clean sound.
When I need to fatten or brighten my blues tone for solos without thrashing the desired clean sound on the amp, the pedal does it again. (It does matter where the EQ goes in the chain so, be patient and experiment. Play a gig/jam or two with it in diff positions because you can't really be sure of the sounds in the woodshed or all in the same shedding session with the same acoustics-for me it works to run the EQ into the Bad Monkey rather than the opposite)
After 22 years of running it on batteries I've decided to buy a (reverse polarity) BOSS (120S) adapter for it. It's actually very good on batteries, but it deserves its own wall wart. (I change amps and effects so often depending on the need or my mood that I don't use a pedal board-too many effects and too long a signal chain)
Keep in mind that (+ -)15db is a lot of headroom and it's quite possible to exceed the useful range in some bands for many
guitar pickups. The range is there if you need it for other apps or instruments though. The greatest results are achieved with subtle adjustments to a few, not necessarily all of the bands on the effect.
I suspect that some of the negative reviews are from KATZ who expect some warm and wonderful result from every wild adjustment in all bands.
That ain't how it works.
Think tasteful and subtle adjustments unless you hate your rig sound before you even start, in which case you have a problem that the Boss GE-7 Equalizer Pedal was never intended to remedy.

A great EQ

I've been using the Boss GE-7 EQ for almost a year and it's a great EQ all around. I use it in the effect loop and I have had great success with it. I set the gain to the 'unity gain' position (the center) and adjusted it for a midrange scoop. Yes, you do need to woodshed with it, as well as any pedal, to find your sound. But, it delivers, it's built to withstand abuse like the other pedals Boss produces and for the money, it's worth it. For me, it was a great investment!

Most Useful Pedal on my board

This pedal is so useful to me, I can change the my sound completely. It makes my clean and distorted sounds so much better. It's such a huge difference, i can't even explain it. Things just become easier to play with this pedal. I love boosting my mids, I can get that perfect classic rock and classic metal tone with this. This pedal defines my tone, fixes my mistakes, and keeps things from generally sounding like crap.
