This pedal works as advertised, cleans up when you roll back your guitar volume. I just didn't really care for the distortion sound itself...I really prefer my Tech 21 XXL pedal...I guess it depends on what your after but for me anyway, the XXL has a more natural response when you attack it harder...

VERY powerful yet gives laid back tones. I found that cranking BACK OD on amp and letting this go and my SG supreme and Roland Cube 30 gives an exceptional amount of sounds. Sounds better than any of the OD's on the BOSS ME-50 I gave to my nephew. Custom Shop Strat is great , too. Good investment...but Boss...a lot of people are hurting right now...how's about a discount?!?

I was searching for an overdrive box that was dynamic and responsive to my playing, and after coming across this one, I bought it. For tonal reference, I am using an Ibanez RG (mahogany/maple) with DiMarzio Air Norton (neck) and D-Sonic (bridge) pickups, with coil-tapping into a Carvin Master Tube Series 212. This is a fabulous pedal, it retains clarity and dynamics at all volume and drive levels, unless the drive is totally maxxed out. It yields a soft, shimmery drive in the middle, coil-tapped, a smooth, lush tone at the neck, and a throaty bark with the bridge. If you are looking for a more expressive overdrive, look no further. I wish I had saved my own time.

This is the best drive pedal i've ever played through. I've had probably close to 20 overdrive/dist boxes and the dyna drive is the best sounding bar none. i thought with the whole dynamic portion of the pedal that the level would drop as well when you are playing quietly, not so. it is very amp like in that your volume remains the same and the grit is added as you strum harder. and its a totally natural transition. I usually don't write reviews but this pedal is totally worth a look. The actual tone of the overdrive is perfect and clear. The clearest overdrive i've heard. This is coming from a guy who usually detests all Boss drive pedals, never liked any of them. The range on the pedal is amazing too, probably the widest offering in a Boss pedal, the tone really boosts or cuts and the drive goes from almost nothing to almost distortion, but still remains clear. it also responds well to other pedals in front of or behind it. Definitely consider this pedal if your looking for an end-all drive pedal. I give it high ratings due to its simplistic layout that still gives you a wide palette of tone, and most of all, its color, a very cool gold, looks awesome.

I have been through MANY distortion pedals in the past, after deciding BOSS was the best i went for the metal zone. It was TOO GRUNGY! After that i went with a Super Overdrive pedal, great but shows too much strumming and picking character for a drive. So i went back on the market after discovering this Glorious Pedal i fell in love. Not only was it simple with only 3 knobs, it wasn't too heavy, nor too weak. It had Balls to the Wall tone. It kept the beautiful sound of overdriven open chords with out making them sound muddy, but gave me the drive i need to solo, hit heavy palm muted power chords, and squealing pinch harmonics. This pedal is perfect Not the Heavy but not Too weak, THIS PEDAL IS "JUST RIGHT"
