This is a good delay pedal for a very affordable price. It does the job really well and is very sturdy. My first reaction to the pedal was that it was very useless, because I hardly use delay. But because a delay pedal is a must-have for any big pedal board, I had to have one. As I played with it and played around with the knobs I found myself liking the delay more and more. My complaints are though that this doesn't have enough delay features for me. A big feature i found cool on other delay pedals was a reverse effect, which is heard in RHCP's give it away. But for a simple delay pedal without breaking the bank, this is a must have.

I just bought this after my Line 6 DL4 died for absolutely no reason (it had never even seen a stage and had never been moved from my bands practice space).
I just bought this used and haven't had it for long but my experience with boss, plus what countless friends say, is that they're built like tanks. This thing is solid. It doesn't have as many features as a Line 6 DL4 or the Boss DD-20, but for a pedal that's half the cost, that's to be expected. I never find myself using the short and medium delay modes, but I have tons of fun with the long delay using dotted 8th notes and longer. The "Hold" function is also great. It amazing how easy it is to play rhythm and leads at the same time with it. I love it better than the looper on me dead Line 6.
Overall, it's a great pedal and it's built very solidly (as everything else by boss is). It also sounds closer to an analog delay than the DL4. I will be buying the DD-20 soon but will def be holding onto this.

Wow, what can I say, this is the funnest pedal I have ever had, and it was my first one as well. The delay effects are nice and clear, and I always figure out something new about it everytime I play with it.

From a DD-7 to the DD-3

I am an active road professional, I understand some folks wanting all of the "Bells and Whistles of other pedals" However, there is also more to remember setting wise on those as well. I am a professional country plucker for MadCow Records and Soundworks Studios and have toured with several big artists. I replaced my DD-7 with this and can achieve a much better tone and response with this pedal, however, I usually leave the feedback set as low as possible.
My signal chain is very simple, Into a volume pedal, into delay, into Zen Drive, into EQ, into Compression/Sustain and out. Volume pedal bypass goes to Pedal Tuner. This system gives me the versatility that any musician needs, and I don't collect boss pedals for no reason. They have a great value for the tone.
A great power to weight ratio you might say!

Basic Digital Delay

This was the second pedal I bought and the first BOSS pedal I ever used. I can say, after owning it for about a year, that I'm pleased overall. This stompbox has few features, but those there are all that you really need. The Hold can provide for interesting effects, but doesnt replay anything longer than about a second, so this pedal in no way replaces a Loop pedal. Doesn't have near as many bells and whistles as the DD6 or DD7, but for those like me who only need the most basic of delay pedals, it is a great pedal at a reasonable price. Be warned though: it runs through batteries like crazy. Is best to get an adapter.
