The Boomerang 4MB Phrase Sampler Plus is a realtime tool for loopers! Creates 2 independent loops up to 4 minutes long and lets you transition between them in several modes. It lets you layer additional parts in forward or reverse. Even lets you play reverse leads live! Adjustable input level. Unique footroller volume controller. A higher processing rate of 24kHz has been added, giving you a choice of it or the former 16kHz. The stack button can be programmed to be either latching or momentary. The Practice Partner That Lasts Forever

I first picked up the Boomerang direct from Mike Nelson, the designer / owner way back in the mid 1990's. Over the years I have used it for accompaniment on hundreds of solo acoustic gigs, as a rhythm player / effects box in my electric band, as a practice tool, songwriting partner and assistant guitar teacher to my students. It's easy to use, built like a tank and will take your playing to the next level. It is as important to me as a guitar or an amplifier. I have logged thousands of hours on my 'Rang and the only thing I have had to replace is the 9V power supply - and I only did that because I thought it might be getting old. The sound quality, like any phrase sampler, is not perfect but after hundreds of live performances, I can assure you that I am the only one that notices the slight sonic drop-off when I kick in the Boomerang. The audience has no clue.

I also own a Lexicon JamMan that, while much more feature rich, is harder to use, has a tendency to be finicky with timing and is not forgiving when you mess up a loop - you have to hold downn the footswitch to erase. On the Boomerang, you simply start over - trust me, that's important when you're trying not to repeat passages over and over just to erase your old loop. Anyway, based on the number of times I have used my Boomerang, I figure my cost per use is down under 10 cents by now. It's one of the greatest gifts I ever gave myself. Every serious guitarist should have one of these.

The Boomerang phrase sampler has pulled me out of a guitar funk, and I now I can't imagine playing without it. I have never come across a better solution for practice. Highly, HIGHLY recommended for the guitarist who needs that extra kick to get out of old habits! (by the way, I have the V.1 sampler- not the "plus." Got it used. I imagine the plus is even better.)

Great overall loop machine, but I would not recomend it for recording entire songs built on loops. I find it much better for adding color to a song, rather than being the basis for the entire song. The reverse live lead function is a whole lot of fun, but the other features seem somewhat limited!

This thing is built like a tank, a 2 year old can learn how to use it in a minute, the loops are a perfect copy of what you played and the delay effect is way better than my DD6. I gave it a 8 on features because it doesn't have many, this is a loop station, don't expect anything else like BOSS RC20 or the likes.

This is an extremely easy to use phrase sampler, for jamming with your own rhythms, working out licks, practice, or just messing around. I've tried to work it into some live performances I do, although it's feature set is a bit limited, so creativity can be limited. But the price is extremely reasonable, considering that better equipment (i.e. Echoplex) will cost much more money.
