Alchemist spins the visions of discerning guitarists into gold.
The Bogner Alchemist 112 combo amp is a modern take on vintage tube amp design. Boasting sparkling, articulate cleans, touch-sensitive leads and a bright and colorful crunch, the Alchemist 112 guitar amp owes its remarkable tonality to a 6L6 class-AB power section, 5 - 12AX7 preamp tubes and a premium Celestion speaker. The Bogner Alchemist 112 amp owes its timeless appeal to classic innovation, modern ingenuity and some entrancing sonic alchemy.
The Bogner Alchemist 112 has a 2-channel design. Each channel has its own voice and identity. Beginning clean and fast, featuring an open top-end and tight bottom-end, Channel 1 opens gradually to present simmering blues tones that churn like spirits in a cauldron. Advancing toward saturation, Crunch mode turns up the heat adding the perfect touch of nastiness with added pick response and increased tonal complexity. Channel 2, achieving critical mass, invokes the famous white-hot Bogner gain—creamy, modern and screaming with sustain—offering everything from Brit rock right through to modern metal. Plus, with variable Bright settings, each channel can be customized to match the tone of your guitar and rig.
Featuring a selectable power section, from 40 to 20 watts, the Alchemist 112 amp's sonority quickly transforms to display a very different kind of magic. When switched to 20 watts, the Bogner Alchemist 112 amp undergoes a complete sonic metamorphosis, changing its harmonic complexity and feel to conjure the essence of the legendary Brown sound.
Reverb and Delay, in variable styles and levels, run in parallel, separate from the original signal. The result is a rich, living and breathing, fully realized resonance capable of producing a complete tonal landscape.
Bogner includes a 4-button footswitch with the Alchemist 112 combo tube amp.

On paper, this thing should be an amazing amplifier. It's very well appointed, no doubt. But having been through 2 of these in less than a month, I think it's a safe bet that these have no longevity and can't really stand up to normal use.
The first one I purchased sounded had more fuzz than an FM radio coming through the speaker. It sounded just HORRIBLE after only one use. The replacement amp had horrific tube-rattle. Not just rattle but super-sonic shimmying, like all of the spring reverb was about to come flying apart.
You should know that you're basically buying a high-end Line 6 amp, and not a very well made one at that. I bagged it after 2 tries and went back to fender.

I have used this amp almost daily for the past 6 months and haven't had any problems with it. It hasn't ever changed channels randomly or not worked in the sun. I use this amp with my Fender Strat Plus or my Ibanez and it sounds great with both of them. I can get fender cleans, a good vintage breakup, and blues on the gold channel. Then I can switch to the mercury channel, witch sounds like an entirely different amp of its own, and get all out classic rock. You can even get some good metal tones with some eq changes and hitting the mid cut switch. Overall, It is very versital and reliable. I have loved this amp ever since I first heard it in Guitar Center.

bought it brand new. doesnt work in heat so forget about outdoor gigs in the summer. in the middle of playing it switches channels with or without footswitch. it will last for a year then the tubes start to go. convenient for the 1 year warrranty. its made through line 6 which is not advertised. i'v seen two other guitarists play a gig with this amp and it had the same problems as mine. for the 1400 i spent on it i could have gotten something much more reliable. lesson learned: don't buy a product the month it comes out. wait for some reliable reviews from people who have experience playing it.

I Bought this amp 3 months ago after a recommendation from Sweetwater Water sales. This amp rocks. The clean is beautiful and sound salmost identical to the fender cleans ive heard on the amps ive owned. The mercury channel rocks with nice distortion tones. Overall this amp sounds great is reasonally priced and built like a tank. This is an excellent value.

I played this amp a few times at the shop and fell in love with it. I bought one and am now gigging with it with no regrets. It does everything I want it to, from clean to heavy overdrive. It doesn't matter to me if it's assembled in China because it's a great sounding amp.
