Natural Case, Open

If you've been searching for a Golden Era guitar that isn't priced like it's made of gold, then Blueridge guitars are for you. Reminiscent of fine American guitars built prior to WWII, Blueridge guitars are made with the same techniques as their antique counterparts, including many by-hand processes.

The Blueridge BR-160 Historic Series Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar has a solid choice spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides. X-braced for optimum tone and volume. The low-profile mahogany neck has a rosewood fretboard wth intricate mother-of-pearl inlays, vintage-style rosewood bridge with bone saddle, and a gorgeously original peghead shape with exquisite MOP inlays and Blueridge logo.

Like the best instruments, Blueridge guitars aren't overbuilt; they're crafted to be light and resonant. Meticulous attention to detail and quality craftsmanship is evident in the traditional, forward-position, hand-carved parabolic X-bracing which allows the solid Spruce top to ring loud and true. Blueridge guitars feature a traditional dovetail neck joint, slim mahogany neck, adjustable truss rod, and butterbean-button, Kluson-style tuning machines with an updated mechanism for modern precision and feel.

I'm a multi-grammy award winning record producer, and I've recorded tons of different guitars, but when I heard this one, I was amazed. Sounded so good, I had to buy one...it's great.

My Gibson has lost its number one status; the BR-160 is as good a strummer and it's far superior for flatpicking. The tone is nicely balanced with nice rich lows that make it great for singing. The neck is rather flat, though. Keep that in mind if you prefer a thicker or rounder neck. I don't really care. It's great.

This guitar is awesome! I bought it used so it came with a couple of dings and no case! I also wasn't a huge fan of the lacquer finish and the wimpy sized headstock, however it plays like a dream, it is quite sensitive, and will fill an entire room by itself. I also have an Epiphone 500m which is a wonderful guitar, but is blown away by this Blueridge. It is comparable to guitars costing twice as much. I'm sure there are better guitars out there, but it will be difficult to find a guitar that will match the sound and quality of this guitar. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a high quality guitar and doesn't want to spend a fortune.

My BR-160 will be three this spring. I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed this guitar. It just keeps sounding better and better. I also own a 1 year old Taylor GA3 which I absolutely love, but the Blueridge is just as well made and sounds a bit better. On the downside, it does have 2 cracks that developed along the purfling, but I live in the northeast and we have pretty dry winters, so I am not surprised. This guitar is a fantastic investment and is still hundreds of dollars cheaper than comparable models with the same features.

For under a grand this is the dread to get!

I purchased a lightly used 04 BR-160 and its my number one. The guitar has the classic dreadnaught sound, and projection. With good strings, this guitar has a piano like tone, very rich overtones and nice bass without being muddy. It sounds like its made to be played along with my vocals-not compete with them. Its also capable of extreme volume, there are times ive played coffee shops without any amplification and it sounds heavenly-I get complements on tone often. The looks of this guitar initially threw me off, now I love it. Its got the vintage vibe to it but that really helps it stick out these days where most acoustics look the same. The headstock bling seems to attract people, Ive gotten lots of comments on my "beautiful guitar". I will be replacing the tuners soon, they are functional but getting a little play in them, and I like a finer gear ratio, the grovers are a drop in fit. I may also install an undersaddle pickup one day. All in all, this guitar has the wood, build quality, and sound to be a keeper while not being so expensive you cant keep it out. Get em before prices go up even more!
